In the episode on 14 April, Tim Mälzer will face two top-class opponents who will compete as a team: Alexander Herrmann and Tobias Bätz, whose restaurant AURA has been awarded two stars. Each of them has to master a culinary task, while Tim Mälzer has to complete two challenges as usual.

Tim Mälzer in Bonn (North Rhine-Westphalia): The opponent duo Alexander Herrmann/Tobias Bätz have pulled off a huge trick. As soon as he arrives in Bonn, Tim Mälzer is handed a black chef's jacket in front of the Kameha Grande Hotel. And before he knows it, he is sitting at the table as an honorary jury member between jury president Dieter Müller, vice president Sebastian Frank and many other top-class colleagues to determine the "Chef of the Year 2023". Six finalists will have to demonstrate their skills in three courses in this culinary competition. For the main course, the chefs are presented with a black box containing various ingredients and have to put together a dish unprepared. Even after the award ceremony, Tim Mälzer still has no idea what his cookery challenge will be. But immediately after the winner is announced, the "Kitchen Impossible" box is brought on stage and it is announced in front of the entire audience that Tim Mälzer must cook the winner's main course! He then has to face the ultimate jury, which to his surprise consists almost exclusively of chefs from the "Kitchen Impossible" family and therefore former rivals! Restaurant-Ranglisten.de had reported on the final in a podcast episode, which was won by the then chef of Munich's Alois, Miguel Marques.

  • Tim Mälzer in Antwerp (Belgium): Alexander Herrmann and Tobias Bätz send Tim Mälzer to the cathedral of Michelin-starred gastronomy, the time-honoured "The Jane" run by celebrity chef and DJ Nick Bril. He arrives by train at Antwerp Central Station and, to his surprise, is picked up by Nick himself on his motorbike. After a joyride, Tim Mälzer awaits the box at "The Jane" and it becomes clear who the original chef is: Nick Bril. The task is grilled lobster with steamed mussel flan and razor clam salad. For Tim Mälzer, it really is now "Kitchen Impossible".
  • Alexander Herrmann in Paris (France): For Alexander Herrmann, it's off to the Mecca for foodies: Paris. To begin with, Tim Mälzer treats Alexander Herrmann to a luxurious boat trip on the Seine, complete with champagne, before bringing him back down to earth. In one of the most elegant brasseries in Paris, he is first served an intensely fragrant selection of cheeses, because Tim knows that Alexander doesn't like cheese at all! Fortunately, his "Kebbeh with citrus sauce" challenge doesn't contain any cheese - but that doesn't make the task any easier. Alexander Herrmann has already failed once in a duel against Tim Mälzer in Arabic cuisine, so why not do it again?
  • Tobias Bätz in Bourges (France): Tobias Bätz gets the unforgettable opportunity to follow in Tim Mälzer's footsteps of days gone by. Tobias Bätz meets Tim's old friend Enzo Caressa in the idyllic town of Bourges in France. After a warm welcome, they set off in a vintage car to a small apple shop, where he gets to know the culinary specialities of the region. Tobias Bätz doesn't have to wait long for his "Kitchen Impossible" box and his challenge is also in keeping with the surroundings: a tarte tartin. The whole thing is then judged by Enzo's family. What Tobias Bätz doesn't realise at this point is that there will be a second box. So while he is sitting cosily at the dinner table with Enzo's family in the evening, the next surprise challenge arrives: a cassoulet, i.e. hearty French home cooking. This time, too, he has to face Enzo's family. Will the otherwise cheerful and cheerful man lose his smile?
