Daniel Schimkowitsch was born in Fürstenfeldbruck in 1985 and trained at the Grand Hotel Sonnenbichl in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. From 2004 to June 2008, he gained experience working under one of the best in his field, Christian Jürgens, at Burg Wernberg.
