New lounge for the L.A. Jordan

Rheinland-Pfalz

On offer are classics by Daniel Schimkowitsch and excerpts from the two-star restaurant's current menu

DEIDESHEIM. The L.A. Jordan Lounge at the Ketschauer Hof in Deidesheim is launching a special concept. In a completely redesigned side wing of the L.A. Jordan, up to 16 people can be seated at a single large table to enjoy the very best 2** creations by chef Daniel Schimkowitsch. There is also a wine list with 1,000 items to choose from.</p

What strikes you immediately: the table. No, not a table, it's more of a huge table, an impressive piece of craftsmanship measuring 5.30 by 1 metre that dominates the room. The flamed wooden top is deep black, lined with elegant bar stools. The entire back wall of the lounge consists of wine refrigerators, behind whose glass doors the exquisite selection can be recognised. Here, wine connoisseurs will find everything their heart desires. Guests can look out through the large windows into the property's beautiful Mediterranean-style courtyard. Overall impression of the lounge: elegant but casual.

The head chef and two-star chef at L.A. Jordan Daniel Schimkowitsch, together with Ole Leidner, Managing Director of Ketschauer Hof Hotel & Restaurant GmbH, has brought the lounge out of hibernation and is looking forward to the new offer: "We have many regular guests who like to come often, but don't always want a full menu: Here in the lounge, they have the opportunity to choose from an exclusive menu themselves." This will include classics such as the "Carbonara" caviar dish with specially selected N25 caviar or the "Charred beef". As well as the two kinds of langoustine from Norway or sturgeon with spinach, butter and umami broth, as well as excerpts from the restaurant's current menu.

<p

"We offer the same cuisine here with the same standards as in the restaurant, but with a different concept," says Ole Leidner. This includes, for example, that guests can come by without a reservation and all come together at one table - "which is also a very special part of Palatinate culture", as Schimkowitsch emphasises. Nevertheless, the lounge is not a bar where a DJ plays late-night music: "We are and will remain a two-star restaurant."</p

The L.A. Jordan restaurant has also been given a makeover to further emphasise its contemporary black and white ambience. As part of this, the lighting concept in the restaurant was also rethought by Lichteck in Mannheim: timelessly modern lamps from the Luna brand by Occhio now emphasise the elegant ambience.

<p

As before, the Ketschauer Hof once again made sure to source all the craftsmanship locally. For example, Fabian Frey from Möbelwerkstatt Frey in Böhl-Iggelheim made the long table in the lounge especially for the lounge and customised the panelling for the wine fridges so that everything was made from a single piece. "And I can only thank everyone involved: the craftsmen were all super fast and did a great job," emphasises Leidner.</p

The L.A. Jordan Lounge is now open from Tuesday to Saturday from 6.30 pm to 10 pm. The lounge will be managed by Yannick Öffler. L.A. Jordan's head sommelier, Stephan Nitzsche, will be responsible for the wines. "Our wine expertise has a magnetic effect, and our cuisine even more so: we are delighted to be able to offer our visitors a special experience with the L.A. Jordan Lounge. Up to 16 guests come together at one table and spend an enjoyable evening together - it's unique and has a lot of charm," says Ole Leidner.</p

Reservations for the lounge in the only 2** restaurant on the Wine Route can be made on the website www.ketschauer-hof.com. Closed reservations are also possible. But as already mentioned: popping in spontaneously is also an option.
