Six new Gerolsteiner "WinePlaces"
GEROLSTEIN. Once again this year, the new Gerolsteiner WinePlaces, which were honoured by the six-member jury in Düsseldorf, are as diverse as the world of wine itself. From Lüneburg to Frankfurt, from Düsseldorf to Würzburg - Gerolsteiner has once again found exceptional places throughout Germany that stand for contemporary and easily accessible wine gastronomy and appeal to a very specific audience with their respective concepts.
In gastronomically challenging times, Gerolsteiner is maintaining its close cooperation with the catering industry and is now in its eleventh year of supporting committed hosts with the Gerolsteiner WeinPlaces initiative. On 21 April 2024 in Düsseldorf, six remarkable places that have committed themselves to wine culture and enjoyment with innovative concepts were once again awarded the coveted Gerolsteiner WinePlace title. "The spectrum of the new WinePlaces impressively conveys how diverse the topic of wine can be realised and experienced in gastronomy. Day after day, all the wine personalities succeed in inspiring guests with creative ideas and a genuine passion for wine," says a delighted Marcus Macioszek, Head of Marketing at Gerolsteiner Brunnen and himself part of the jury alongside Sebastian Bordthäuser, Christina Fischer, Alexander Kohnen, Theresa Olkus and Stuart Pigott. The six new WinePlaces include classic wine bars, but also a former snack bar with hip-hop beats and a long-established restaurant. Whether for Chinese cuisine, Dutch delicacies or small crossover dishes inspired by Japanese izakaya culture - the selection has rarely been so international and at the same time so locally rooted. Thanks to their intensive engagement with the topic of wine and above-average commitment, all of the award-winning wine personalities succeed in inspiring different target groups to enjoy wine, including guests who are just discovering the topic of wine for themselves.
The following WinePlaces 2024 can look forward to their trophies:
- Düsseldorf | Hashi - Petite Chinoiserie - Mingyue Gao and Zhenkun Wang
- Düsseldorf | Pommes & Wein - Pelican Fly - Toni Askitis and Elisavet Askitis
- Frankfurt am Main | Vinothèque Briedé - Michel Briedé
- Lüneburg | 0,75 Winebar & Eatery - Luca Heuer and Sasan Khojandi
- Traben-Trarbach | Die Mosel Vinothek & Winebar - Burcu Stolte and Manuel Stolte
- Würzburg | Aifach Reisers - Bernhard Reiser
Two of the new WeinPlaces are run by well-known personalities from the WeinPlaces family: Toni Askitis was already one of the first WeinPlaces with his restaurant "D'Vine" and has now been honoured again for his wine snack bar "Pommes & Wein - Pelican Fly". In Würzburg, the trophy goes to Bernhard Reiser, who the jury already knew from his former restaurant "Reisers am Stein" that wine is a high priority. With "Aifach Reisers" in Würzburg's old town, he is now back in the inner circle of WeinPlaces.
What started in 2014 with twelve WeinPlaces throughout Germany has developed into a gastronomy initiative with a strong appeal. From Freiburg to Lütjensee, from Düsseldorf to Dresden - a total of 54 active wine bars, lounges and vinotheques can currently call themselves Gerolsteiner WinePlaces. Wine novices should feel just as comfortable in a WinePlace as wine enthusiasts.
With the WeinPlaces project, Gerolsteiner Brunnen is expanding its commitment to the topic of wine and providing specialist information on the interaction between mineral water and wine. The aim of the initiative is to bring together restaurateurs with an affinity for wine and to raise their profile among consumers interested in wine. Guests can rely on the fact that the wine shops, wine bars and wine bars present the topic of wine in an uncomplicated and "barrier-free" way. The personalities who are present in an excellent WeinPlace pass on their knowledge and enthusiasm for wine to guests in a friendly manner. By the way: Whether Gerolsteiner water is on the menu or not is not a selection criterion for the jury. It's about the overall concept and the wine selection. Wine lovers can find all Gerolsteiner WinePlaces in an annual booklet and at weinplaces.de. The leading mineral water company also offers a wide range of interesting wine-related topics online, such as the harmony of water and wine, as well as recipes and tips from the WinePlaces.
