MICHELIN GUIDE BIB GOURMAND BENELUX SELECTS 313 RESTAURANTS

Michelin is delighted to unveil the new Bib Gourmand Benelux selection, the MICHELIN guide inspectors’ favourites, chosen for their excellent value for money, since they all offer a complete menu - starter, main course, dessert - for no more than €37.

"The Bib Gourmand is increasingly popular with the general public and with restauranteurs," says Michael Ellis, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides. "In the 20 years the distinction has existed, the increase in the number of establishments awarded a Bib Gourmand in Benelux reflects this success: there are 313 restaurants today as against 112 in 1997. And all cooking styles are represented from local cuisine to Mediterranean and Asian specialties."

Among the establishments selected in the Benelux countries, 25 new ones are located in Belgium. Canteen style with clean lines and restaurants with a more chic and sophisticated atmosphere, all the establishments awarded a Bib Gourmand offer a diversity of comfort and cuisine that reflects the Belgian gastronomic scene. The 5 Flavors MmeI in Antwerp specializes in dim sum; the Bodo in Ghent offers more traditional cuisine; Toucan in Ixelles serves bistro cuisine and the Fête au Palais, in Lutin offers, in addition to its extensive selection of beers, a splendid view over the Meuse valley.

The MICHELIN Guide Bib Gourmand Benelux 2017 also includes 18 new establishments in the Netherlands. Of these, some are run by chefs that have previously been awarded a star for their gourmet restaurants and who have developed new concepts by devising simpler and more affordable food. This applies in particular to Spandershoeve in Hilversum, which offers deliciously spicy Indonesian specialities and Lime, in Malden, where chef Ysbrandt Wermenbol reinvents traditional dishes by incorporating Mediterranean and Asian flavours. Other restaurants awarded a Bib Gourmand in the 2017 selection are Zott, in Nieuwegein, which serves reinvented classic cuisine, and Rijsel in Amsterdam, which gives a Flemish twist to the traditional cuisine on offer.

The MICHELIN Guide Bib Gourmand Benelux 2017 is unveiled a few days before both the MICHELIN Guide Belgium and Luxembourg 2017, which will be presented on 21 November, and the MICHELIN Guide Netherlands 2017, to be unveiled on 12 December.

The Bib Gourmand Benelux 2017 is available in digital format, and will be on sale from November 24 for €17.95 (Belgium and Netherlands) and €17.44 (Luxembourg).

This selection includes: 

 165 restaurants in Belgium, with 25 new establishments

 14 restaurants in Luxembourg ;

 134 restaurants in the Netherlands, with 18 new establishments.
