Reaktion Ein Stern

Steffen Szabo earns Michelin star for gourmet restaurant Le Frankenberg

Schloss Frankenberg, a historic jewel in Franconia, a flagship of the Franconian top hotel industry, gourmet cuisine and with its own winery, has recorded another success. Under the direction of the renowned chef and culinary director Steffen Szabo, the gourmet restaurant Le Frankenberg was awarded a coveted Michelin star at the Michelin star award ceremony. This prestigious award recognises the commitment to excellent cuisine and the continuous search for culinary perfection.</p

Under the direction of Steffen Szabo, Le Frankenberg offers French-Franconian flavours of culinary excellence. Supported by a first-class team, he combines apparent opposites in his creations - tradition and modernity as well as extravagance and down-to-earthness - to create top-class culinary moments. "We are honoured to have received this prestigious award," says Steffen Szabo, head chef at Schloss Frankenberg. "It is the result of hard work and continuous innovation. We will continue to strive for excellence and offer our guests unforgettable moments."</p

Steffen Szabo knows his way around stars: As the youngest starred chef in Bavaria, this is already his third star, which he has cooked up together with his sous chef Stefan Ludwig.

In 2016, he became head chef at the Romantikhotel Goldene Traube in Coburg. The Esszimmer restaurant was repeatedly awarded a Michelin star under him. In Volkach, he was head chef at the Hotel Zur Schwane from February 2019 to February 2021. Under his management, Restaurant Schwane 1404 was joined by Restaurant Weinstock in April 2019, which was awarded a Michelin star in 2020. After Upper and Lower Franconia, he has now also been honoured in a restaurant in Central Franconia - Franconia is in his blood. For Le Frankenberg, it is the first star to rise above Schloss Frankenberg, which is also part of the European Heritage Project, around two years after it opened.</p

The 8-course menu from Thursday to Saturday evening and an exclusive gourmet lunch on Saturdays offer guests a unique culinary experience characterised by Szabo's innovative ideas.

"In terms of meat quality, there are perhaps 1-2 places in the world that I found even more impressive, but in terms of experience, this was perhaps the most impressive steak meal I've ever had."
