Restaurant review
OPUS V, Mannheim
Forum contributor QWERTZ says: “Dominik Paul seems to have found his style: his dishes are composed in a minimalist way with a focus on acidity. I wouldn’t call it purist, given that the sauces aren’t exactly low in fat, but they are very well balanced. The balance of the flavours is consistently very well achieved. The flavour profile has become more pronounced, precise and fresher than I recall from my previous visit – indeed, one could certainly describe it as Nordic, as this was the direction Dominik Paul intended to take when he took over as head chef. The menu is on the lighter side. Incidentally, it’s served with excellent bread and lovely butter, which you can help yourself to without running the risk of feeling full too quickly. This results in a high overall standard. The menu has no real weaknesses, but there are no real standout dishes either. In other words: it offers exactly what one would expect from a good two-star restaurant.” (Published in June 2026)
