HAMBURG. Tim Striegel has been named ‘Rising Star of the Year 2026’ by the magazine ‘Der Feinschmecker’. The 25-year-old chef from the restaurant ‘Das Philippin’ in Rutesheim, near Stuttgart, came out on top against six other young talents in the gourmet magazine’s readers’ poll. More than 4,100 entries were received, with Striegel clearly coming out on top.

Since 1985, *Der Feinschmecker* has regularly honoured young culinary talents by selecting the “Rising Star of the Year”. Chefs cannot apply for the award themselves. The editorial team nominates candidates who have attracted attention through their development, their skills and their innovative culinary ideas. Readers then decide on the winner. Previous winners include, amongst others, celebrity chef Tim Raue.

“We want to discover young chefs who are making a name for themselves through their skills and ideas, and whom we are convinced we will be hearing a lot more about. Whether they have already received other awards is not a deciding factor for us. Tim Striegel has impressed us with his development and his own style, and for us he is clearly one of these talented individuals,” says Gabriele Heins, editor-in-chief of *Der Feinschmecker*.

Striegel’s journey into the restaurant industry began with an apprenticeship as a pastry chef, after which he trained as a chef. His career highlights include stints at “Aura” in Wirsberg, “Ursprung” in Königsbronn and “Bareiss” in Baiersbronn. At the end of 2024, following refurbishment and a reopening, he took over as head chef at “Das Philippin” in Rutesheim. There, the 25-year-old specialises in classic French cuisine, which he reinterprets with a modern twist.

Tim Striegel on the award: “My family thinks I’m mad when I set myself big goals. However, this award shows me that it’s okay to be mad enough to believe in dreams that others consider impossible. If you do what you love and have the right people by your side, you can achieve great things.” The fact that Tim Striegel is ‘Rising Star of the Year 2026’ is announced in the current issue. A detailed profile of him and his work will appear in issue 1/2027.
