The Kronenschlösschen’s former head chef is moving to the Saarland

ST. INGBERT. The Michelin-starred restaurant Midi is getting a new head chef. Following Peter Wirbel’s departure before the summer break, the restaurant has now announced its future staffing plans: Marcus Langer will take over as head chef from September. He joins from the Kronenschlösschen in the Rheingau, where he has been working since 2025. Prior to that, he was head chef at the Atelier Sanssouci in Radebeul – which was awarded a Michelin star during his time there – and at Bean&Beluga in Dresden.

“His career has taken him through renowned establishments in Germany’s top-tier gastronomy. Influenced by classic French cuisine, a love of vegetables and herbs, and a style of cooking that puts the ingredient at the centre, he has developed his own distinctive style during this time,” according to a social media post. However, Marcu Langer will not be reinventing everything at Midi; the cuisine is set to remain rooted in the region and continue to use local produce.
