NEUHAUSEN. Claudio Urru is leaving the Grüner Wald restaurant after eight years. He writes in a social media post that he is doing so with mixed feelings. “These years have been far more than just work. They have been characterised by passion, team spirit, creativity and the daily commitment to creating unforgettable moments for our guests. Together, we have achieved a great deal, overcome challenges and further established the Grüner Wald as a fixture in the region’s top-class gastronomy scene. I look back on this time together and our successes with great pride,” says Claudio Urru. He did not reveal what his next steps will be. The post simply states: “Here’s to a new chapter.”

Claudio Urru was head chef and managing director of the one-starred ‘top air’ in Stuttgart from 2002 to 2012. He then worked at the Montafoner Stuben restaurant at the Hotel Löwen in Schruns, before moving in 2014 to the Ars Vivendi restaurant at the Jagdhotel Glashütte in Bad Laasphe, which was awarded a Michelin star. From 2015 to July 2018, Urru was head chef and culinary director at the one-starred Restaurant 5 in Stuttgart. In 2018, he then moved to the Grüner Wald, which also includes the one-starred Restaurant Alte Baiz.
