An evening of entertainment with Edip Sigl and Viki Geunes

Belgium, Antwerpen, Bayern, Grassau

The Achental Resort hosted a unique four-hands dinner featuring two three-star chefs at the gourmet restaurant es:senz

GRASSAU. Guests were treated to a special experience for the Achental valley and the whole of the Chiemgau region at yesterday’s four-hands dinner at es:senz. On this spectacular evening, two three-star chefs – Edip Sigl and Viki Geunes – worked side by side in the kitchen, creating a unique 18-course menu that showcased their two first-class culinary styles.

Since es:senz opened in 2021, Edip Sigl has been inviting renowned Michelin-starred chefs to his restaurant to treat guests to an exclusive evening of culinary delights. And although Geunes initially pursued a different career path, both he and Sigl followed their true passion with great determination, ambition and dedication. Today, both are counted amongst Europe’s most renowned top chefs.

Viki Geunes’ path into the world of gastronomy took an unusual course. After studying industrial engineering, Geunes decided to follow his passion for cooking and taught himself the craft largely on his own. Shaped from an early age by curiosity, discipline and a keen sense of composition, he developed the clear, elegant style for which he is now internationally acclaimed. In 1996, Geunes and his wife Viviane opened Zilte in Mol, Belgium. In 2004, the restaurant was awarded its first Michelin star, followed by a second in 2008. In 2011, Zilte moved to the MAS Museum in Antwerp. There, Geunes continued to develop the restaurant’s concept, and in 2021 it was awarded its third Michelin star.

The ‘4-Hands’ dinner was conceived as a tribute to a culinary friendship. At the opening, Edip Sigl emphasised: “It is a particular pleasure for me to welcome Viki, with whom I share a long-standing friendship, to the es:senz. Together, we would like to treat our guests to an extraordinary evening that brings together a total of six Michelin stars.”

Viki Geunes also expressed her gratitude following the successful evening: “After last year’s successful four-hands dinner at Zilte, I was delighted to receive your invitation to es:senz, Edip. It’s impressive to see the extraordinary hospitality with which you have welcomed me and my team to the Das Achental resort.” Delighted, Edip Sigl and Viki Geunes raised a toast to this unique evening at es:senz with the owners, Ursula Schelle-Müller and Dieter Müller. Edip Sigl thanked the entire team for their successful collaboration and emphasised: “At a four-hands dinner, there are always far more than just four hands at work.” At the same time, he announced that he would continue to host further four-hands dinners with top international chefs in the future.

Anna Stuben, Ortisei in Val Gardena

“My highlights were the pasta dish and the dessert. Some of the dishes had a temperature issue (i.e. they were too cold). Sous-vide cooking is still used quite frequently here, but this did not have a negative effect on the texture. The atmosphere is impressive, and the service is extremely friendly.” (Published in…
