Restaurant review

L 99 Restaurant & Wine Bar, Osnabrück

Niedersachsen, Forum

"It was never to be expected that Lars Keiling’s cooking would automatically be any worse simply because the restaurant was no longer necessarily aiming for Michelin stars."

Our forum member Thomashaj says: “For a Sunday lunch, as in our case, or in the evening, the straightforward concept of being able to order whatever takes your fancy is incredibly convivial. It was never to be expected that Lars Keiling’s cooking would automatically be any worse simply because the restaurant is no longer necessarily aiming for Michelin stars. And so, what ends up on your plate here is not only technically flawless, but also imaginatively and attractively presented. Stylistically, there’s no set formula. Sometimes the dishes are more classic, at other times they feature Asian influences or are modern fusion. So there’s something for everyone on the varied menu. For those who prefer a bottle to the numerous wines by the glass, Gina Duesmann has an extensive separate wine list and, just as she did back in Bad Bentheim, is highly knowledgeable and on hand to offer expert advice. The “Henne Weinbar” is one of our absolute favourite restaurants in Cologne, and if I lived in Osnabrück, “L 99” would have all the right ingredients to be just as good.” (Published in February 2026)
