FRANKFURT AM MAIN. The GRETA OTO restaurant at the JW Marriott Hotel Frankfurt is further refining its culinary offering, introducing new elements to its cuisine, service and bar. At the heart of this are Head Chef Ralf Göbel and Ali Mohamad, Restaurant & Bar Manager, who are jointly shaping the culinary and hospitality development of the Latin American-inspired concept. This development is complemented by Semir Zenunovic, Director of Food & Beverage at the JW Marriott Hotel Frankfurt, who holds overall responsibility for F&B. GRETA OTO opened in spring 2025 and brings the culinary diversity of South America to the city on the Main. Its hallmarks include sharing dishes, intense flavours, a vibrant bar culture and a sensuous interior featuring lush plants, warm colours and curved wooden surfaces.

At the heart of this culinary reorientation is Head Chef Ralf Göbel, who has been working in the upmarket hospitality sector since 2003. His career highlights include stints at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin and the InterContinental Davos, as well as long-standing roles in Frankfurt’s top-tier hospitality sector – including the InterContinental Frankfurt and Roomers Frankfurt. At GRETA OTO, Ralf Göbel shapes a modern, sophisticated cuisine that combines high-quality ingredients, precise craftsmanship and a variety of flavours.

“GRETA OTO thrives on energy, colour and bold flavours. For me, it’s about further developing the concept’s Latin American inspiration with a distinct signature style,” says Göbel. “Our cuisine should remain accessible whilst also surprising guests – whether at dinner, when sharing dishes or during a business lunch. In future, there will be a particular focus on the lunch menu: with the Caja Bento, GRETA OTO offers a high-quality lunch option from Monday to Friday, 12 noon to 3 pm, combining various elements of Latin American-inspired cuisine in a compact, stylish format.

Service & Bar: Restaurant & Bar Manager Ali Mohamad

Ali Mohamad is responsible for service, hospitality and the bar. His career in the restaurant industry began early in Syria, followed by stints in Saudi Arabia, Germany and Paris – including at the renowned seafood restaurant Dessirier and the long-established Le Train Bleu at the Gare de Lyon. At GRETA OTO, Mohamad combines professional service standards with warm hospitality, a personal touch for guests and a bar experience that forms an integral part of the overall concept.

Overall responsibility for Food & Beverage lies with Semir Zenunovic, Director of Food & Beverage at the JW Marriott Hotel Frankfurt. He brings more than 19 years’ experience in the international luxury hospitality industry and supports the further development of GRETA OTO from both an operational and strategic perspective. Particular emphasis is placed on the interplay between the restaurant, bar, service quality and team culture.

“With Ralf Göbel and Ali Mohamad, we are strengthening GRETA OTO precisely in the areas that are crucial for an independent restaurant: cuisine, service and the quality of hospitality,” says Holger Hanselmann, Director of the JW Marriott Hotel Frankfurt. “Both bring experience, personality and a great passion for gastronomy to the table. Together with our F&B team, they will further refine GRETA OTO’s profile – for hotel guests as well as for the people of Frankfurt.”

New summer terrace in the heart of the city

During the warmer months, the new summer terrace will also expand the dining options. Situated in the sheltered courtyard on Thurn-und-Taxis-Platz, it offers around 35 to 40 seats, depending on the layout. The restaurant area has around 20 seats for the full GRETA OTO menu; the lounge terrace offers a further 15 or so seats for drinks and a smaller menu. This makes the restaurant’s outdoor area a stylish, secluded spot right in the heart of the city. GRETA OTO Frankfurt is open daily. The bar welcomes guests daily from 10 am to midnight. The restaurant serves lunch from 12 noon to 3 pm and dinner from 6 pm to 11 pm, with last orders at 10 pm.
