Expansion plans
Meisenheimer Hof is getting a second restaurant
MEISENHEIM. The Meisenheimer Hof, home to the Michelin-starred restaurant of the same name, has plans for expansion. At the Fürstenwärther Hof, which forms part of the complex, a key new addition to the establishment is currently under construction. Alongside fourteen new hotel rooms, a new restaurant called La Mésange, run by host Markus Pape, is set to open there in November 2026.
The establishment presented these plans to members of the press at a media day. To kick things off, Markus Pape, Prof. Christian Held, Erik Koch and Bruno Schulz provided insights into the development of the complex since its foundation in 2013. The focus was on the people behind the project and the established structure of the establishment. This quickly developed into a lively dialogue. The discussions
ranged from the history of the establishment and its integration into Meisenheim’s extraordinary cultural landscape to questions regarding future development, new forms of hospitality and the role of regional networks.
Under the motto “My Meisenheim”, a tour followed through the various sites of the ensemble. The elaborately renovated themed rooms of the main building, the Kochhaus, the Fürstenwärther Hof (currently undergoing renovation) and other projects set to take shape in the coming months were all showcased.
The Kochhaus sees itself as a place for socialising. In addition to traditional cookery courses, it offers space for families, businesses and groups who wish to come together through shared cooking, dining and conversation. Erik Koch presented his new Heimatküche, which is set to open in October 2026 on the premises of the main building.
Furthermore, the future wineBANK Nahe is taking shape in the building’s historic vaulted cellar. As part of the international wineBANK network, it aims to bring together wine lovers, collectors, entrepreneurs and connoisseurs, creating a place for personal encounters, exchange and a shared passion for wine. The combination of hospitality, cuisine and wine culture made the Fürstenwärther Hof one of the most exciting future projects of the tour for many guests.
The Disibodenberg winery also used the media day to provide an outlook on its future development. The winery, which belongs to the international association of steep-slope vineyards CERVIM, sees its mission not only in the production of great wines, but increasingly also in the promotion of wine culture.
Consequently, there was considerable interest in the plans presented for a wine school designed to bring the origins, terroir, sensory analysis and cultural landscape of the Nahe region to life. The media day made it clear that the development of the Meisenheimer Hof extends far beyond individual buildings or gastronomic concepts. The focus is on the careful development of an ensemble that combines history, hospitality, wine and regional identity.
Restaurant review
Anna Stuben, Ortisei in Val Gardena
“My highlights were the pasta dish and the dessert. Some of the dishes had a temperature issue (i.e. they were too cold). Sous-vide cooking is still used quite frequently here, but this did not have a negative effect on the texture. The atmosphere is impressive, and the service is extremely friendly.” (Published in…
