Restaurant review
L’Aromate, Caen
“What Axel de Caseneuve serves up here, especially at such a reasonable price, is truly impressive. It’s understandable that the dishes here are also rather simple in design, and this can certainly be an advantage when it comes to refining his own signature style. Good ideas keep popping up here and there. This makes it easier to overlook the fact that the odd dish, such as the sweet potato starter, turns out to be rather unremarkable, or that some portions are oversized. And a bit of fine-tuning here and there – for instance, regarding the excessive use of sprouts or the inclusion of vanilla in the cauliflower purée – would also be useful. All in all, however, we did enjoy it.” (Published in January 2026, note: the restaurant is now run by the same team under the name Blossum)
