Kitchen Impossible: Trettl vs. Neuner

Challenges in Armenia, Italy, Luxembourg and Austria

In the next episode of “Kitchen Impossible” this coming Sunday, Roland Trettl and Hans Neuner will go head-to-head by sending each other to emotionally charged and unfamiliar locations. In South Tyrol, Neuner can expect a dish from “poor man’s cuisine” and a family surprise, whilst Trettl will discover the traditional home cooking of a good friend in Luxembourg. Further culinary challenges await in Armenia and back home.

In this showdown, “Kitchen Impossible” becomes a battle of wits at the highest level. Roland Trettl and Hans Neuner send each other to places that are emotionally charged or deliberately as unfamiliar as possible – from family ties on Lake Garda to the remote expanses of Armenia, from multi-generational cuisine in Luxembourg to their home in southern Styria. Between haute cuisine, tradition and tactically placed stumbling blocks, it is not only culinary skill that counts, but also mental resilience. Who will lose their composure, and who will use familiarity, nostalgia or uncharted territory as motivation?

Roland has come up with something special for Hans: he’s sending him to his family in South Tyrol! There, two-star chef Neuner is met with a classic dish of cocina povera – ‘poor man’s cuisine’ – as well as a nasty surprise in the original kitchen. But Hans promptly returns the favour with another family surprise: For in Luxembourg, Roland finds himself faced with the cooking of the son of an old friend and companion. In Armenia, things really heat up for Trettl, as he faces a culinary tradition that demands technique and physical tension. Neuner, meanwhile, heads back home, where the self-proclaimed “King of the Seas” must, of all things, tackle a freshwater fish dish.
