Landromantik Hotel Oswald celebrates its 75th anniversary
KAIKENRIED. When a hotel has grown over generations, gathered stories and constantly reinvented itself, the result is a place with a unique history. The Landromantik Hotel Oswald is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year and looks back on a history shaped by vision, down-to-earth values and a constant focus on the guest. What once began as a traditional inn is now one of the leading wellness and culinary hotels in the Bavarian Forest. It remains true to its regional roots and combines tradition with modernity.
Over three generations, the Oswald family of hosts has continuously developed the hotel with a keen sense of quality, the spirit of the times and the needs of their guests. “75 years of Oswald stand for the consistent transformation from a classic inn into one of the leading wellness and culinary hotels in the Bavarian Forest, with a distinct identity, high quality and the commitment to offering our guests an exceptional experience, both today and tomorrow,” says host and owner Andreas Oswald, describing the hotel’s development.
This signature style is evident in many ways: in the architecture, which combines regional elements with contemporary design; in the atmosphere, which blends warmth and elegance; and in an offering that appeals to active holidaymakers and those seeking peace and quiet alike. The 57 rooms and suites offer retreats with views of the countryside, whilst the spacious spa area provides space for relaxation and rejuvenation. Here, modern wellness concepts blend with the tranquillity of the surrounding nature – a place that slows the pace and recharges your batteries.
A particular milestone in the hotel’s history is its culinary development. With the multi-award-winning Oswalds Gourmetstube, the hotel has made a name for itself far beyond the region. Chef Thomas Gerber, a native of Cottbus, interprets regional produce with creative finesse and was awarded a Michelin star for ten consecutive years before receiving his second star in 2025. His cuisine combines artisanal precision with a refined sense of flavour, making the hotel a destination for gourmets seeking culinary delights of the highest standard.
Despite constant development, the hosts’ philosophy has remained unchanged over the decades. “There is no single recipe for success. We never planned this from afar, but made many groundbreaking decisions at the right time, always staying close to our guests. The fact that this has resulted in such an establishment over the generations makes me very proud,” says senior manager Alfons Oswald.
It is this blend of intuition, experience and personal commitment that continues to define the Landromantik Hotel Oswald to this day. The anniversary year is shaped by this history whilst also looking to the future. Guests experience an establishment that has grown without losing sight of its roots. A place that combines Bavarian warmth with superior comfort, that lives tradition and shapes the future. Thus, even after 75 years, the Landromantik Hotel Oswald remains what it has always been: a haven for all who seek something special – characterised by family, quality and the quiet art of making guests happy.
