Dinner by Heston Blumenthal is closing

Heston Blumenthal speaks of changing economic conditions

LONDON. The two-Michelin-starred restaurant Dinner by Heston Blumenthal at the luxury Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park hotel is set to close permanently in January 2027. As Blumenthal told The Times, the partnership between the hotel and the Fat Duck Group is coming to an end after 16 years due to an expiring lease.

Opened in 2011, the restaurant is regarded as one of London’s most important culinary landmarks. It achieved worldwide fame through Blumenthal’s concept of revitalising historic British recipes – some dating back to the 14th century – for modern haute cuisine. Signature dishes such as “Meat Fruit” (a chicken liver mousse shaped like a mandarin) have become icons of contemporary cuisine.

According to official statements, the decision not to renew the lease was reached by mutual agreement. In his comments, Heston Blumenthal cited the changed economic conditions in the restaurant industry, including drastically rising food prices and operational challenges. The Mandarin Oriental is reportedly planning a new concept for the premises from 2027, though details have not yet been disclosed.
