Own the Pass
Horváth launches youth series
BERLIN. In autumn 2026, the two-Michelin-starred Berlin restaurant Horváth will hand over its kitchen to young chefs for the first time: as part of the new event series “Own the Pass”, they will take charge of the restaurant’s culinary operations for one evening, developing an original, vegetable-based menu and taking full responsibility for the cuisine and the evening’s proceedings. The competition is open to trainees from their third year of training onwards, as well as qualified chefs with up to five years’ professional experience. Participants must be aged 25 or under.
The selected teams will design the menu, concept and programme for the evening independently. The Horváth team will provide support behind the scenes and make the kitchen, service infrastructure, logistics and marketing available. “With ‘Own the Pass’, we’re giving young talent a platform and real responsibility,” says head chef Sebastian Frank. “The restaurant industry thrives on new ideas and inspiring personalities. We want to create spaces for creativity and exchange where these can flourish.”
Applications for “Own the Pass” are open until 1 June 2026. We are looking for teams of up to three chefs. Applicants should submit a brief introduction to the team and a concept outline for the planned evening. “Own the Pass” is not a competition, but an invitation to take on responsibility and get creative – on equal terms and with professional support. Sebastian Frank’s team gives young talents the opportunity to take the reins for an evening and shape the culinary experience at Horváth independently. The first dinner led by these up-and-coming culinary talents is planned for October 2026 and will take place at Restaurant Horváth in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
The selected teams will develop a vegetable-based four-course menu. The price of the menu is 95 euros. The focus of the evening will be on exchange, the promotion of young culinary talent and a shared passion for gastronomy. At the same time, the format creates an open setting in which young talents from the industry can meet, learn from one another and share new ideas.
