JRE Germany celebrates its 35th anniversary

Jeunes Restaurateurs

Theme for the year: “Enjoyment that lasts”

2026 is set to be a special year for Jeunes Restaurateurs Deutschland (JRE): for 35 years, this association of young top chefs has stood for creative cuisine, genuine hospitality, exemplary training and a strong sense of community. With its new focus theme, “Enjoyment that goes further”, the network is opening a new chapter and demonstrating how responsibility, quality and community will continue to make an impact on the plate and beyond in the future.

What began in 1991 with a vision is now one of the country’s most distinguished culinary networks. Over three decades, the members of JRE Germany have demonstrated how culinary enjoyment can be taken to the next level: regionally rooted, internationally inspired, innovative and open to change. This ethos is the constant that will guide JRE through its anniversary year in 2026.

Craftsmanship that is constantly evolving

Culinary craftsmanship forms the foundation of the JRE. One example of this is the ‘Genusslabor 2.0’, where members, together with producers and guest chefs, consciously step away from the usual restaurant routine to develop new ideas. Surrounded by nature, they cook, experiment and discuss together. Using high-quality regional ingredients, improvisation and artisanal creativity, they develop new approaches for the cuisine of tomorrow. The ‘Genusslabor’ thus exemplifies the JRE’s commitment to continuously developing culinary arts – with curiosity, openness and always close to the product.

Training that creates opportunities

Supporting the next generation has always been at the heart of the JRE philosophy. In the restaurants, training is not a side issue but the centre of daily life. As part of the additional training at the JRE Culinary Academy, chefs pass on not only technical knowledge but also values: respect, team spirit and a sense of responsibility. Because it is about a holistic understanding of gastronomy: from product knowledge and sustainable working practices to collaboration between the kitchen and front-of-house.

Experiences that bring people together

Many of the establishments are family-run or supported by well-established teams in which the kitchen and service staff work closely together. Whilst the kitchen operates with technical precision and creativity, the service team ensures attentive service, a welcoming atmosphere and personal contact with guests. It is this interplay that transforms a meal into a moment that lingers in the memory. And it turns a restaurant into a place of genuine hospitality.

The JRE Sharing Moments campaign, which runs until the end of March 2026 in all member establishments, also demonstrates how such moments of enjoyment come about. A sharing-style menu brings people together, allowing them to share dishes and experience top-class cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. Here, enjoyment becomes a shared experience – uncomplicated, unifying and contemporary.

Responsibility that makes a difference

However, the 70 members do not merely demonstrate the impact of culinary enjoyment in their establishments on a daily basis. For Jeunes Restaurateurs Deutschland, top-class cuisine also means: operating responsibly, acting sustainably and taking on social responsibility. This is precisely where the JRE-Deutschland Foundation comes in. The foundation’s aim is to teach children and young people about the importance of healthy eating and sustainability. It also supports initiatives that develop educational programmes for young people in this field. The funds for this are raised at specially organised charity events. Just at the beginning of March, the first JRE & Friends Charity Kitchen Party 2026 took place at the Redoute in Bonn.

Partnerships that make a difference

This shared sense of responsibility is also evident in the close collaboration within the gourmet network. JRE Germany relies on shared thinking, mutual trust and a clear foundation of values with its partners too. Together with partners who stand for quality, authenticity and a spirit of innovation, sustainable connections are forged that go beyond traditional collaborations. New members of the network such as Jaguar Land Rover, Lobenbergs Gute Weine, Altonaer Kaviar Import Haus (AKI) and Rituals demonstrate that enjoyment that lasts needs strong companions.

A network with conviction

These examples demonstrate that diversity is no coincidence, but a principle put into practice. Whether a family-run business or a smart restaurant, a metropolis or a country inn: what unites JRE Germany is the commitment to thinking ahead together. Events such as the JRE Team Day or this year’s international JRE Congress in Cologne make precisely this visible: here, exchange, inspiration and new ideas emerge. For top-class cuisine thrives not only on talent at the stove, but on collaboration behind the scenes.

Looking ahead

With the theme ‘Enjoyment that goes further’, JRE Germany is celebrating its 35th anniversary and looking firmly to the future. They are setting an example of responsibility, community and the culinary future. For hosts and hostesses who want to make a difference. For a hospitality industry that brings people together. Since 1991. And with every new idea, a step further.
