restaurant review
Le Cinq, Paris
France, Paris, Forum
"Exceptionally good service, less exceptionally good cuisine – that's how I experienced my evening at Le Cinq. This shows once again the importance of good service and a pleasant restaurant atmosphere. As a result, I will remember the evening as a wonderful overall experience. However, if I focus strictly on what was on the plate, then I have to say it was more like two stars than three. You can tell that Christian LeSquer is experienced, but also that his signature dishes were developed quite some time ago. By this I mean the transformation of the foie gras into a stone, which still has influences from Spanish cuisine, the somewhat outdated use of ice in the asparagus and the outdated texture in the grapefruit dessert. It no longer seems quite up to date. Nevertheless, the menu impresses and satisfies me in many details, but I will certainly not make the investment in Le Cinq again just for the food. It reminds me of my visit to Guy Savoy in autumn 2021, even though I liked this menu at Le Cinq better. However, it is definitely a step below the other three-star restaurants on this trip to Paris."
