Two new one-star restaurants in Ireland

The Michelin Guide rates 1,210 restaurants in Great Britain and Ireland.

The results at a glance:

  • Bonheur by Matt Abé receives two stars in the guide
  • Row on 5 rises from one to two stars
  • 20 restaurants receive one star
  • All three-star restaurants retain their awards
  • Seven new Green Stars are awarded
  • 37 more restaurants receive the Bib Gourmand for their excellent value for money

(10 February 2026) - The Michelin Guide has published its latest restaurant ratings for Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland at the Convention Centre in Dublin. The selection comprises a total of 1,210 restaurants, including 230 starred restaurants. All three-star restaurants retain their ratings. The London restaurant scene continues to excel, with two restaurants awarded two stars. A total of 20 restaurants received one star. In addition, 37 new Bib Gourmands were awarded to restaurants offering good food at an excellent price. Seven new Green Stars were awarded for outstanding commitment to more responsible gastronomy. The awards span the United Kingdom and Ireland. This year's host city, Dublin, enjoyed a particularly successful year: In addition to a new MICHELIN-starred restaurant, three new Bib Gourmand restaurants were also awarded. Brighton and Hove also have reason to celebrate: for the first time in almost 50 years, the twin cities are home to a starred restaurant. The stars represent a variety of cuisines and culinary styles, including Spanish, Indian and Korean cuisine.

Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guide, commented: "I am delighted that this has been another excellent year for our Guide for the United Kingdom and Ireland. In a year full of challenges and turbulence in the industry, chefs and restaurateurs have once again demonstrated their admirable resilience and innovative spirit. This is reflected in the record number of restaurants included in this year's Guide for Great Britain and Ireland. Our newly awarded restaurants, including two new two-star restaurants and 20 one-star establishments, will rightly make headlines with their exceptional cuisine. Finally, I am particularly delighted to see 37 new Bib Gourmand restaurants offering excellent value for money, as well as seven exemplary restaurants awarded a Green Star."

Two restaurants awarded two stars

The Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland welcomes two newly awarded two-star restaurants this year. Bonheur by Matt Abé, which received two stars just a few months after opening, was one of the most anticipated new openings of 2025 and has fully lived up to expectations. It has taken over the premises of the former legendary Le Gavroche and marks a new chapter for its eponymous chef, who ran Gordon Ramsay's restaurant for several years. Bonheur showcases Abé's own cooking style: his dishes are light and modern, underpinned by outstanding classical technique. The sauce-making alone is testament to the talent of Abé and his team. Row on 5 has also been awarded two stars, having received its first star last year. This collaboration between Jason Atherton and Spencer Metzger offers a luxurious experience from start to finish, characterised by depth and quality. The ingredients are among the best you can find in a restaurant and are skilfully refined by the chefs through technical skill and fine judgement. The testers were particularly impressed by the Inverness lobsters prepared in various ways.

This year's selection includes a total of 28 two-star restaurants.

20 new one-star restaurants

In the Republic of Ireland, two restaurants have been awarded a new star. In Dublin, Forest Avenue has been awarded a star thanks to chef John Wyer's minimalist cuisine, which gives free rein to the excellent ingredients. More excellent Irish produce is on display at The Pullman in Galway, where Angelo Vagiotis serves his cuisine in the magnificent setting of two original Orient Express carriages.

Scotland also has two new stars this year. Killiecrankie House near Pitlochry offers an enticing blend of local ingredients and subtle Japanese influences – all masterfully prepared by chef Tom Tsappis. Further north, overlooking Upper Loch Torridon, is the picturesque Restaurant 1887. Chef Danny Young's dishes do justice to the surroundings with creative accents and admirable restraint.
Another restaurant that is definitely worth a visit is Vraic in Vale on Guernsey. The latest project from chef Nathan Davies, who previously earned a Michelin star at the Welsh restaurant SY23, Vraic boasts a stunning location and cuisine that makes excellent use of the island's regional produce.

Back in England, Luke French's JÖRO has developed rapidly since moving from Sheffield to nearby Oughtibridge. French's cuisine is bold and original, yet nuanced, lending subtle flavour nuances to every dish. Further north, in Harrogate, FIFTY TWO is housed in a converted shipping container, providing a theatrical stage for chef Adam Degg and his masterful culinary artistry. Degg skilfully uses preserved ingredients, and every component on the plate shines with a clear richness of flavour.

In the Midlands, hard work and perseverance have paid off for two restaurants that have been featured in the Michelin Guide for around a decade, with their first stars. The Wilderness in Birmingham is Alex Claridge's immersive culinary experience, where his originality is now matched by supreme sophistication. In nearby Lichfield , the Michelin star at The Boat is the culmination of years of development by chef Liam Dillon. His refined dishes showcase outstanding regional produce, including some from his own microfarm.

On the south coast, Rafael Cagali's Maré has become the first Michelin-starred restaurant in Brighton and Hove in almost 50 years. The charming restaurant in Hove is run by the chef of the same name from the two-starred Da Terra in London. Chef Ewan Waller and his team skilfully present an exciting variety of international flavours. Adam Handling's Ugly Butterfly, located directly on the seafront, celebrated its rebirth in Newquay this year and is better than ever. It was awarded a star for its balanced flavours and technical skill.

Adam Handling is not the only chef to have added to his collection of stars. In London, Nieves Barragán Mohacho followed up the success of Sabor with Legado in Shoreditch – another homage to Spanish cuisine. On the other side of the city, in Belgravia, the acclaimed chef presents her interpretation of a luxury bistro with Corenucopia . Gary Mundi creates first-class versions of British classics in the kitchen. In Mayfair, the team behind the two-star restaurant Trivet, consisting of chef Jonny Lake and his co-owner and sommelier Isa Bal, opened the Michelin-starred Labombe by Trivet . Chef Evan Moore's versatile dishes captivate with their unpretentious yet intense flavours.

For his first London project, renowned chef Michael Caines from Devon has opened the highly successful restaurant "Michael Caines at The Stafford". Head chef Simon Ulph skilfully continues Caines' well-known, classic style, refining high-quality ingredients with tried-and-tested combinations. The Gordon Ramsay Group is also delighted to have received another Michelin star this year. The Gordon Ramsay High restaurant is known for its breathtaking views from the 60th floor, but chef James Goodyear's cuisine is in no way inferior. He processes first-class products with balance and precision. Also in London, the Kerfield Arms in Camberwell is one of only two pubs in London to receive a Michelin star. Chef Jay Styler impressed the testers with dishes that show how delicious minimalist cuisine can be – such as the quince and bay leaf cream doughnut. Meanwhile, in Knightsbridge, fish expert Tom Brown has once again been awarded a Michelin star. Tom Brown at The Capital marks his return to the hotel where he established his reputation. Expect his usual sophisticated techniques and first-class ingredients.

The JKS Group, known for Gymkhana and Trishna, has now opened another Michelin-starred Indian restaurant in the Ambassadors Clubhouse. Chef Shantilal Bhushan presents an enticing menu of boldly spiced dishes inspired by Punjabi recipes. Somssi by Jihun Kim has also been awarded a star. The eponymous chef creates immaculately prepared dishes that combine Korean tradition with French influences and excellent British produce.

Together with the restaurants that retained their awards from the previous year, the Michelin Guide 2026 selection for Great Britain and Ireland comprises a total of 192 restaurants with one Michelin star.

Seven new Green Stars

The Green Star recognises restaurants that have impressed the inspectors with their forward-thinking practices. This year, seven restaurants were awarded the Green Star by the Guide Michelin inspection team for their innovative initiatives. Together, they embody a more dynamic form of gastronomy that is leading the way for the industry. This brings the total number of exemplary restaurants to 37. The new Green Stars are:

  • 1887, Torridon
  • Eight at Gazegill by Doug Crampton, Rimington
  • Forest Side, Grasmere
  • Glebe House, Southleigh
  • Knepp Wilding Kitchen, near Horsham
  • The Free Company, Balerno
  • Timberyard, Edinburgh

37 new Bib Gourmand restaurants

The MICHELIN Guide's Bib Gourmand award recognises restaurants that offer good food at an excellent price. Although all Bib Gourmand restaurants differ in style and concept, they share the same spirit of hospitality and commitment to high-quality cuisine. A week before the Michelin awards ceremony, 37 new Bib Gourmand restaurants were announced. They showcase the diversity of restaurants in the UK and Ireland that are committed to affordable, high-quality cuisine.

Special awards

This year, in addition to the new stars and Bib Gourmands, five special awards were presented to outstanding individuals and teams who particularly impressed the Michelin Guide inspectors over the past year.

  • MICHELIN New Opening of the Year – Shwen Shwen, Sevenoaks: Maria Bradford's Shwen Shwen was one of the biggest successes of the year and was awarded a Bib Gourmand for the self-taught chef's generous, visually appealing and all-round successful dishes, inspired by her Sierra Leonean heritage. She has ensured that not only the food but the entire restaurant is a success: a cheerful, colourful dining room and attentive, courteous service contribute to the overall experience.
  • MICHELIN Young Chef Award – Tom Earnshaw from Bohemia, Saint Helier: At just 27 years of age, Tom Earnshaw took over as head chef at the traditional Michelin-starred restaurant in Jersey and quickly proved himself to be a remarkable talent. He defended Bohemia's star for another year. His cuisine impresses with its technical skill, original ideas and mature restraint. The testers were particularly impressed by a dish featuring Jersey crab, panna cotta with red Thai curry and kaffir lime sorbet.
  • MICHELIN Service Award – Barbara Nealon from Saint Francis Provisions, Kinsale: Barbara Nealon, owner and manager of the charming Saint Francis Provisions, embodies the famous Irish hospitality and has made her restaurant a jewel of the gastronomic scene in County Cork. Her relaxed, personal service ensures that guests feel at home while everything runs smoothly. You can feel the love that goes into this restaurant – a place that puts a smile on your face and leaves you wanting more.
  • MICHELIN Sommelier Award – Roxane Dupuy from Row on 5, London: Few wine lists are as good as the one at Row on 5, which was awarded its second MICHELIN star this year and features over 2,400 items. Sommelière Roxane Dupuy has compiled this exceptional list and used her profound knowledge to select fascinating wines from all over the world. Equally important is her natural and friendly manner, which puts guests at ease with her relaxed approach and spot-on recommendations.
  • MICHELIN Exceptional Cocktails Award: Alasdair Shaw from Sebb's, Glasgow: Sebb's has had a great year, receiving both the Bib Gourmand and the Exceptional Cocktails Award for bar manager Alasdair Shaw. This restaurant and bar is a paradise for cocktail lovers. The diverse menu ranges from timeless classics to slushies and shots to creative original concoctions. One of our testers particularly highlighted the Miso Malt Old Fashioned – an interpretation of the classic with a round, buttery flavour and a hint of passion fruit for added freshness.
