Grand Resort Bad Ragaz and Andreas Caminada to continue collaboration after all

BAD RAGAZ. Andreas Caminada's two-star restaurant IGNIV at the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz will not be closing after all. The original plan, which was announced in mid-2025, has been scrapped.

According to a statement from the Caminada Group, the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz has consistently developed its culinary offerings as part of the Resort Strategy 2035 and the repositioning of the Grand Hotel Hof Ragaz. As the project progressed, the future culinary concept was further refined, sharpened and reviewed in terms of its overall impact. As a result, a joint decision was made to continue the existing partnership with IGNIV by Andreas Caminada.

"The analysis showed that continuing the collaboration with IGNIV by Andreas Caminada ideally complements and strengthens the diversity and quality of the culinary offerings at the resort. Against this backdrop, the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz and Andreas Caminada have jointly decided, contrary to earlier reports, to continue their successful partnership until the end of 2029. This is the result of a constructive and open exchange between the Grand Resort and Andreas Caminada, based on a shared understanding of quality, authenticity and excellence," the statement said. With the start of renovation work and the strategic redesign of the ground floor of the Grand Hotel Hof Ragaz on 1 February 2026, the IGNIV by Andreas Caminada restaurant will temporarily close and welcome guests again when it reopens in December 2026.

IGNIV, which has been awarded two Michelin stars and 17 GaultMillau points, will continue to be under the culinary direction of Joël Ellenberger. The 31-year-old is looking forward to the reopening in December with enthusiasm: "I am looking forward to continuing to spoil both our guests from the region and the hotel guests with our sharing experience." The restaurant will thus remain an independent part of the resort's culinary landscape and complement the existing signature restaurants in a deliberately diverse overall concept.

From the management's point of view, the continuation of the collaboration is therefore also a strategic added value for the entire resort. Dr Klaus Tschütscher, CEO of Grand Resort Bad Ragaz and responsible for corporate development, says: "IGNIV remains a central cornerstone of our culinary identity. We are delighted to continue our long-standing collaboration with Andreas Caminada and his team despite the temporary closure of the restaurant. This is a win-win situation for our guests, our employees and the long-term orientation of the resort. We stand for unforgettable experiences with a personal touch, including in the area of cuisine."

Andreas Caminada adds: "The IGNIV restaurants in Zurich, Andermatt, Bangkok and Bad Ragaz share a common DNA, yet each has its own unique characteristics. The IGNIV in Bad Ragaz was the origin of our fine dining sharing concept in 2015 and is very close to my heart. I am delighted that we have now come together to continue on our shared journey until the end of 2029. The upcoming renovation is a clear commitment by the Grand Resort to the location and the IGNIV concept. We will use this time to meticulously prepare for the reopening in December 2026 and then surprise our guests with our usual passion and fresh ideas."

"Similar to the previous evening, the dishes are very purist and minimalist or product-oriented, which makes sense given that mainly local products are used."
