Tim Mälzer is concerned about Kitchen Impossible
HAMBURG. Tim Mälzer has expressed concern about the cost-cutting measures at RTL Group and the possible impact on his TV show Kitchen Impossible. "We are supposed to save money, and we are also considering making smart savings," said Mälzer in the podcast "Hazel Thomas Hörerlebnis". "If that happens to the product, I've said: Then I'll quit." Cost-cutting opportunities are a topic of discussion. He is critical of cost-cutting measures that affect quality: "I've never seen that work anywhere. Unless you've really been throwing money out the window before."
A total of around 600 jobs are to be cut at RTL Group – about ten per cent of the workforce. According to the company, the move is necessary to adjust the cost structure to the massive decline in TV advertising revenues. These have fallen by over 20 per cent since 2019. As a result, some TV programmes are to be cancelled. RTL has not made any public statements about the extent to which the "Kitchen Impossible" format will be affected by cost-cutting measures.
The TV programme Kitchen Impossible was first broadcast on VOX at the end of 2014. Since then, ten seasons and several special episodes have been released. The programme has received several television awards. Numerous top chefs compete against Tim Mälzer in culinary challenges around the world, in which dishes must be recreated after tasting them once.

The Caper, Vulcano
"Similar to the previous evening, the dishes are very purist and minimalist or product-oriented, which makes sense given that mainly local products are used."
