New studio chef comes from Switzerland
München, Bayern
MUNICH. From 1 April 2026, Kevin Romes will take over the position of Chef de Cuisine at the Atelier restaurant in the Hotel Bayerischer Hof. After the Easter break, the restaurant will reopen under his leadership on 17 April 2026.
Born in Andernach (Rhineland-Palatinate) in 1991, Kevin Romes is one of the most promising chefs of his generation. Most recently, he worked as head chef at Skin's – The Restaurant in Lenzburg (Canton of Aargau, Switzerland) from spring 2022 until today. The end of the fine dining ambitions there was announced last week. Under his leadership, the restaurant was awarded two Michelin stars shortly after opening. Kevin Romes previously worked as sous chef at the IKIGAI restaurant in Schloss Elmau, also awarded two Michelin stars, under head chef Chris Rainer.
Other formative stages of his career included working as sous chef at the two Michelin-starred Restaurant Einstein Gourmet in St. Gallen under Sebastian Zier and Moses Ceylan, and as chef de partie at the three Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant Überfahrt in Rottach-Egern under Christian Jürgens. Kevin Romes began his career at the Le Val d'Or restaurant at Stromburg Castle (1 Michelin star), where he worked under Johann Lafer and Bernhard Munding, first as a demi chef de partie and later as a chef de partie. Kevin Romes also gained international experience during internships at Vila Joya (2 Michelin stars) in Albufeira under Dieter Koschina and Matteo Ferrantino, and at Restaurant Amber (3 Michelin stars) at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong under Richard Ekkebus.
Kevin Romes is looking forward to his new role with great anticipation: "It is with great pleasure and respect that I take over the management of the Atelier at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof. After many years in Bavaria, I am delighted to return to my adopted home. Together with this fantastic team, I want to continue developing the rich culinary history of the hotel – with passion and heart." Innegrit Volkhardt, managing partner of the Hotel Bayerischer Hof, is also convinced and delighted with the new appointment: "In Kevin Romes, we are gaining a chef who stands for the highest quality craftsmanship, international experience and a clear culinary signature. His career to date, his commitment to the highest standards of cuisine and creativity, and his contemporary approach to team leadership are a perfect fit for the Atelier restaurant. We are very much looking forward to our future together."
Restaurant Atelier will be closed for the Easter break from 3 to 17 April 2026. Following the departure of the previous head chef, Anton Geschwendtner, his sous chef, Valentin Krehl, will remain as acting head chef.
