The Dining Room in Cham closes

Swiss Michelin-starred restaurant open until the end of May

CHAM. The Michelin-starred restaurant The Dining Room in Cham, Switzerland, will close at the end of May. "After a very successful period and numerous new friendships with guests, this chapter is coming to an end. We are closing due to restructuring in the building and will be pursuing new avenues," announced head chef Christopher Knippschild, who runs the restaurant together with Johanna Hagen. The building has new owners and the operators cannot afford the rent that is now being demanded, they explained to the Luzerner Zeitung newspaper.

After the closure, Christopher Knippschild will return to Germany. He will join his parents' business, the Romantik Landhotel Knippschild, in the Sauerland region. He will start on 1 January 2027. A fine dining restaurant is also planned there for 2027, but the exact time frame has not yet been determined. Johanna Hagen will remain loyal to the restaurant industry in Switzerland and break new ground.
