Michelin Guide rates 79 restaurants in the Czech Republic
(14 December 2025) - The Michelin Guide has published restaurant ratings for the entire Czech Republic for the first time. The last time restaurants in the capital city of Prague received awards was in 2021. According to the Michelin Guide, the new selection for 2025 emphasises the diversity of the Czech gastronomic scene. With a total of 79 establishments, this edition reflects the diversity of Czech culinary styles, which are often characterised by the country's history and culture. One restaurant was awarded two stars, eight received one star, fifteen new establishments were honoured with a Bib Gourmand for their outstanding value for money and four received a Green Star.
"With its unique blend of tradition and modernity, Czech gastronomy invites local gourmets and visitors from all over the world to discover new culinary horizons. After Prague, we are delighted to present the gastronomic diversity of the entire country with this new selection and to recognise the Czech Republic's restaurants for their skill, commitment and excellence in the pursuit of quality," says Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guide.
Two stars
Papilio has been awarded two stars. The elegant restaurant is located in the former stables of a castle in Vysoký Újezd. Jan Knedla and his team prepare menus of up to ten courses in the open-plan kitchen with its magnificent vaulted ceiling. The chef skilfully and creatively reinterprets his childhood memories and presents exceptional, mostly regional ingredients.
One star
Eight restaurants each receive one star, six are new to the selection: ESSENS in Hlohovec offers modern dishes made from regional and seasonal ingredients in an elegant ambience. The Entrée in the Theatre Hotel in Olomouc impresses with its open kitchen, which offers a unique cooking experience, and a menu with a special concept. La Villa in Zlín spoils its guests with classic French cuisine, refined with regional influences. LEVITATE in Prague impresses with its inviting ambience, which harmoniously combines historical and modern elements, and serves original cuisine that combines typical Czech ingredients with Asian spices and Nordic influences. The restaurants Field and La Degustation Bohême Bourgeoise in the capital are also characterised by their uniqueness.
Bib Gourmand
In this selection of Czech restaurants, 18 have been honoured with the Bib Gourmand - an award for outstanding culinary experiences at affordable prices. The 15 new restaurants include Šupina a Šupinka in Třeboň, which is located in a magnificent chateau and is particularly appreciated for its fish dishes, and Bar ATELIER & Bistro in the historic centre of Brno, which offers a concise, modern and seasonal menu in a relaxed, modern atmosphere. Also worth mentioning is the Long Story Short Eatery & Bakery in Olomouc with its trendy bistro concept, creative cuisine and dishes to share. In Čeladná, MIURA impresses with a tasteful combination of local and international specialities, while the pub restaurant Výčep in Prague focuses on modern Czech cuisine. Three other Prague restaurants that have already been honoured with the Bib Gourmand retain this award, which they received in 2021.
In addition to restaurants that have been awarded stars and Bib Gourmands, the selection also includes 52 establishments that impressed the guide's inspectors with their savoir-faire and quality.
The inspection team was particularly impressed by Kohout NA VÍNĚ in Brno, a charming small, modern restaurant that offers seasonal dishes as a menu and à la carte; and Tlustá Kachna, ideally located on the market square in Chrudim, which attracts gourmets with its welcoming atmosphere and delicious, family-style cuisine. Also recommended is the Babiččina zahrada in Průhonice, where guests can enjoy traditional dishes made from regional and seasonal ingredients in a charming country house or on the beautiful terrace in summer; and the Chapelle in Písek, whose modern concept is reflected not only in the bright, chic interior and open kitchen, but above all in the menu with Czech and international influences.

To highlight the skills and professions in gastronomy that contribute to unforgettable culinary experiences, this year's MICHELIN Awards recognise several talented professionals and their commitment and excellence. Three winners were honoured this year.
- The Service Award goes to Miroslav Nosek, owner of the Field restaurant in Prague, who welcomes his guests with remarkable courtesy and attention. Eloquent, friendly and always attentive, he offers impeccable service. He and his team demonstrate great professionalism by showcasing the creative, modern cuisine of chef and co-owner Radek Kašpárek, whose excellence enabled the restaurant to defend its Michelin star this year.
- The Young Chef Award goes to Khanh Ta, head chef of the Vietnamese restaurant Taro, also in Prague. Despite his young age, he creates authentic dishes that combine complexity and accessibility with sophistication and precision - each one characterised by his sensitivity and passion.
- The Sommelier Award goes to Zdeněk Oudes from the Marie B restaurant, also in the capital. With genuine enthusiasm, this talented sommelier recommends wines from his carefully curated list to complement the chef's menu, whose cuisine is deeply rooted in Czech tradition despite a modern, creative approach. He uses his extensive knowledge to advise guests with genuine pleasure.

- LEAF in Prague
- Štangl in Prague
- Sůl a Řepa in Strakonice.
These restaurants exemplify the transformation of the culinary landscape, which is driven by authentic ideas and inspiring approaches and is paving new paths for the industry.
