Michelin Guide rates 1,971 restaurants in Italy
(21 November 2025) - The Michelin Guide Italy 2026 has been published. Following last year's celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of the Michelin Guide Italy, the presentation of the 2026 selection heralds the 120th anniversary celebrations of Michelin in Italy. The 71st edition thus marks the start of a year-long series of celebrations honouring the traditional link between Michelin Italy and the region. The company is the largest employer here and the leading national producer in the sector in terms of production capacity.
This year, the Michelin Guide Italy is honouring 25 new Michelin-starred restaurants: One new three-star restaurant has been included, bringing the total number of restaurants with absolute excellence in Italy to 15. Two new restaurants have been awarded two MICHELIN stars and 22 have been awarded one star. In total, the Michelin Guide Italy 2026 selection includes 394 starred restaurants spread across the entire Italian peninsula.

Three stars
A new three-star restaurant with MICHELIN stars: La Rei Natura by Michelangelo Mammoliti, Serralunga d'Alba (CN) - Chef Michelangelo Mammoliti: Nestled in the atmospheric setting of the rolling Langa vineyards, the restaurant run by Michelangelo offers a gastronomic experience of the utmost precision and poetry. Each dish, prepared with the utmost care, tells a story that celebrates the ingredients and enhances them with bold and harmonious combinations. Guests and products form the vibrant centrepiece of a journey that appeals to all the senses. Michelangelo's cuisine not only satisfies the palate, it delights it and transforms every bite into an unforgettable emotional escapade.
In addition to the new addition to the three-star family, the restaurants that are "worth a special trip" in Italy and confirm their three stars are as follows: Casa Perbellini - 12 Apostoli in Verona (VR), Villa Crespi in Orta San Giulio (NO), Piazza Duomo in Alba (CN), Da Vittorio in Brusaporto (BG),Le Calandre in Rubano (PD), Dal Pescatore in Canneto Sull'Oglio (MN), Osteria Francescana in Modena (MO), Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence (FI), La Pergola in Rome (RM), Reale in Castel di Sangro (AQ), Uliassi in Senigallia (AN), Enrico Bartolini al MUDEC in Milan (MI), Quattro Passi in Nerano (NA) and Atelier Moessmer Norbert Niederkofler in Bruneck (BZ).
Two stars
Two new two-star establishments appear in the Italy 2026 Guide that are well worth a diversion:
- Famiglia Rana, Oppeano (VR) - Chef Francesco Sodano: Surrounded by fascinating works of art, enchanting antiques and an ambience with unique charm, chef Sodano's cuisine is a testament to the importance of unity. - I Tenerumi, Isola di Vulcano (ME) - Chef Davide Guidara: Davide Guidara pursues a dream with integrity, experience, expertise and vision: to put the plant world centre stage. His refined technique, sensitivity and creativity come together to create a culinary journey that will surprise and seduce guests. Nestled in a picturesque corner of the island, each dish becomes an unforgettable experience.

The Michelin Guide Italy 2026 awards 22 new stars. Six of these restaurants were added to the selection during the year and are marked in bold. Eight of the 22 new stars are awarded by experienced chefs. In the restaurants marked with * the chef is under 30 years old, in the restaurants marked with ** under 35 years old.

- The MICHELIN CHEF MENTOR AWARD 2026 was presented to Heinz Beck from the restaurant La Pergola in Rome. In over twenty years with three MICHELIN stars, Heinz Beck has developed La Pergola into a laboratory of gastronomic excellence, where generations of young chefs have been trained under the guidance of a master who transmits a unique vision of cuisine based on lightness, balance and well-being. His approach, which is the result of continuous collaboration with science and research, has redefined the concept of haute cuisine and combined flavour and health in an innovative way. Heinz Beck is not only a chef of exceptional talent, but also a tireless communicator and educator who has made a decisive contribution to the cultural development of modern gastronomy. MICHELIN SOMMELIER AWARD 2026, sponsored by the Consorzio Franciacorta and awarded to Ivana Capraro from Castel Fine Dining, Tirolo (BZ). Ivana is a reference for anyone who wants to experience pure emotion in a glass. She interprets the preferences of her guests with skill and finesse and creates the perfect wine accompaniment. She champions small producers and presents exceptional wines in an elegant way. Her recommendations are a journey through the vineyards, told with enthusiasm and passion, making every experience an unforgettable moment. MICHELIN OPENING OF THE YEAR 2026, sponsored by Agnelli 1907 and awarded to Gian Marco Bianchi of Al Madrigale | Nuova Cucina Rurale, Tivoli (RM). The traditional Tivoli opens a new, excellent restaurant where chef Bianchi and his team turn every experience into a journey through the gastronomic traditions of the region. Not just any journey, but a tailor-made voyage of discovery, where authentic flavours blend with a modern vision, accompanied by impeccable service and the elegance of a historic setting.
Regions
The region with the most new additions is Lombardy, with four restaurants that have been awarded a Michelin star. Lazio follows with three new one-star restaurants, followed by six other regions with two new additions each (Liguria, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige and Campania). Veneto can look forward to one new one-star restaurant and one two-star restaurant. Lombardy continues to lead the regional ranking of Michelin stars with 64 restaurants (three three-star, six two-star and 55 one-star restaurants). Campania is in second place with 48 restaurants (one three-star, seven two-star and 40 one-star restaurants), while Tuscany is in third place with 45 restaurants (one three-star, five two-star and 39 one-star restaurants). Piedmont remains in fourth place with 34 restaurants (3 three-star, 2 two-star and 29 one-star restaurants), while Veneto is in fifth place with 34 Michelin-starred restaurants (2 three-star, 4 two-star and 28 one-star restaurants).
In the provincial ranking, two cities from Campania continue to occupy the top five places: Naples leads with 27 restaurants (1 three-star, 6 two-star and 20 one-star restaurants) and Salerno is in fifth place with 16 restaurants (all with one star). Rome is in second place with 26 Michelin-starred restaurants (1 three-star, 3 two-star and 22 one-star restaurants), followed by Bolzano with 21 restaurants (1 three-star, 2 two-star and 18 one-star restaurants). Milan is in fourth place with 20 Michelin-starred restaurants (1 three-star, 4 two-star and 15 one-star restaurants).
In the regional Bib Gourmand rankings, Piedmont is tied with Emilia-Romagna at the top with 34 restaurants. Tuscany climbs to third place with 26 restaurants, overtaking Lombardy, which slips to fourth place with 23 restaurants. Veneto completes the top 5 with 18 restaurants.
