Restaurant review

Sommerfeld, Frankfurt am Main

Frankfurt, Hessen, Forum

"This is an exciting, creative cuisine that clearly stands out from the randomness often described here."

"Now Pietsch has freed himself from the supposed shackles and is cooking up a storm with his team at "Sommerfeld", for which he was rightly awarded a star in the Michelin Guide at the beginning of June. Although it is still reminiscent of the style of the "Gustav" - and why not - it stands out from the mainstream in a pleasant way and appears much more emancipated than before. Spruce shoots and borage oil are served with trout, for example, or grilled pointed cabbage in a fermented mushroom broth with smoked egg yolk. This is exciting, creative cuisine that clearly stands out from the arbitrariness often described here. I am delighted that we once again have such an outstanding restaurant in Frankfurt." "The sauces have great depth, the dishes show considerable care and attention to detail, and, in terms of flavour, everything is thoroughly satisfying."
