Guide Michelin bewertet 76 Restaurants in Vancouver

(13 October 2025) - The Michelin Guide has released its latest restaurant ratings for Vancouver. The new selection for 2025 includes two new one-star restaurants, one new Bib Gourmand and two new recommended restaurants. In addition, four special awards were presented at the exclusive ceremony.

Sumibiyaki Arashi and Sushi Hyun were honoured on stage at the Commodore Ballroom and added to the exclusive list of one-starred restaurants in North America. In addition, a new Bib Gourmand was awarded to Good Thief, bringing the total to 15 restaurants. The full selection, including the recommended restaurants, comprises 76 restaurants with 22 cuisines represented.

"Tonight we celebrated another outstanding year for the Michelin Guide Vancouver and its local chef and restaurant community," said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guide. We are delighted to welcome two remarkable new restaurants to the starred family: Sumibiyaki Arashi and Sushi Hyun join the global ranking with one star. Our anonymous inspectors continue to be inspired by the passion and creativity of Vancouver's dining scene, and we look forward to seeing it flourish in the years to come.

One star

  • Sumibiyaki Arashi (Japanese cuisine): Chef Pete Ho has introduced a new yakitori classic to Vancouver with this sleek 14-seat counter at Mount Pleasant. The multi-course omakase includes dishes like chawanmushi with red crab and yuzu or crispy fried tofu with sweet soy sauce. The centrepiece of the menu, however, is carefully prepared chicken skewers grilled over Binchotan charcoal. The combination of specially selected birds of traditional breeds, expert butchery, masterful seasoning and the skilful use of the grill produces results that are both uncomplicated and profound. From perfectly cooked breast and leg with crispy skin to more unusual cuts such as chicken oyster and heart, each piece is a revelation - no wonder it's the most sought-after table in town.
  • Sushi Hyun (Japanese/Sushi Cuisine): The unassuming exterior belies the sumptuous omakase that awaits diners at chef Juhyun Lee's elegant oasis. Japanese luxury permeates every element of the meal, from exquisite seafood and handmade ceramics to the silky, subtly fragrant hinoki counter (made from a tree over two hundred years old). Subtlety goes hand in hand with flavour in Chef Lee's meticulous preparations. The spectacular quality of the ingredients takes centre stage - from perfectly tempered edomae-style nigiri to a comforting rice dish with fried karei flounder, a nod to his Korean heritage. Unobtrusively attentive, unobtrusive service and a carefully chosen wine and sake selection from chef Hyun himself add to the comfort and sophistication.

Bib Gourmand

The Michelin Guide inspectors have honoured a new restaurant with the "Bib Gourmand" award, which recognises restaurants for excellent food at a good price-performance ratio.

  • Good Thief (Vietnamese cuisine): Considered the rebellious younger brother of neighbouring Anh and Chi (Bib Gourmand), this lively bar and restaurant offers a more casual, inventive take on Vietnamese cuisine, accompanied by equally inspiring cocktails. The compact menu includes small dishes ideal as bar snacks, such as succulent grilled binchotan skewers or perfectly deep-fried crispy frog legs with torn mint and a tantalising sweet and sour sauce glaze, as well as more substantial dishes such as simple garlic noodles with chunks of Dungeness crab. The excitement continues with dessert, such as a layered mousse cake with banana, peanut and Thai chilli, paired with coconut sorbet and fish sauce caramel. Whatever you do, don't miss out on the excellent drinks - many of which can be prepared without alcohol.

Special awards

In addition to the Bib Gourmand and the stars, the guide has announced four special awards:

  • Exeptional Cocktail Award: Vysion Elter, Good Thief
  • Sommelier Award: Franco Michienzi, Elisa
  • Outstanding Service Award: Danielle McAlpine, St. Lawrence
  • Young Chef Award: Juhyun Lee, Sushi Hyun
