Thomas Bühner announces new project in Hamburg
Hamburg
After successful openings in Düsseldorf, Taipei and Istanbul, top chef Thomas Bühner is expanding his culinary portfolio in Germany: in the first half of 2026 , he will realise a new restaurant project in the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier. Directly on the waterfront, with a view of the Elbe, a place is being created that this time focuses on uncomplicated enjoyment rather than fine dining.
The space where the new restaurant will be located is on the ground floor of the Lee building and comprises a 600 square metre indoor area and two outdoor terraces with a total of 120 square metres. The terraces are south-facing and thus offer a unique view of the Elbe, the harbour and the cruise terminal.
Bühner is deliberately opening a new chapter with the new project in Hamburg. "The concept at Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier is aimed at a broad public who are looking for modern, cosmopolitan cuisine. Whether for lunch, dinner, an after-work drink at the bar or a relaxed evening with friends - it will be a place for every occasion," says Bühner. Further details will be announced in the coming months.
Thomas Bühner has been one of the most influential personalities in top German gastronomy for more than three decades. He gained international recognition with his three Michelin-starred restaurant la vie in Osnabrück. Today, he runs various concepts around the world: in Düsseldorf, he opened the gourmet restaurant LA VIE by thomas bühner in May 2025, which has already been awarded a Michelin star. In Taipei, LA VIE by thomas bühner also received this award, and he is setting further accents with TASTE by Thomas Bühner in Istanbul.
With the new project in Hamburg, Bühner is now showing another facet of his work - accessible, cosmopolitan and deliberately beyond classic fine dining structures. Further information about Thomas Bühner can be found at www.thomasbuehner.de.
