Auberge de Temple closes

JOHANNESBERG: The Auberge de Temple restaurant is closing in its current form at the end of the year. "We were sure that we would never leave this place, which we have grown very fond of. Johannesberg is our home - and the Auberge has been our home for all 12 years. We have channelled our energy, our creativity and our passion here. Every room, every detail, every menu was part of our heart. All the more reason for us to look back with gratitude: on unforgettable evenings, on conversations that have led to friendships, on guests who have become companions. To highs full of joy, but also to the shared struggles in difficult times - such as during the years of the pandemic, which we were able to survive thanks to your loyalty and support," reads the hotel's newsletter.

It is not clear exactly what the future holds for the owners, Nicole and Ludger Helbig. After a phase of searching and finding, they both hope to open a new, high-quality catering establishment. "Because one thing is clear: our passion for hospitality and enjoyment does not end with a decision like this. We are full of longing for a new place where we can once again create space for encounters, depth and joie de vivre," says the newsletter. Their son Tim, who has taken up the profession of chef and is on his way to his apprenticeship and travelling years, will play an important role in this. "We ourselves feel that the spark in us continues to burn. We are full of anticipation for everything that may come - perhaps even a little more than an idea away ..."
