Sternerestaurant 5 files for insolvency
STUTTGART: The operating company of the Michelin-starred Restaurant 5, Neresheim-based ZEDO GmbH, has applied to the competent local court in Aalen to open insolvency proceedings. According to a statement, talks about out-of-court solutions had previously been unsuccessful. The local court granted the application and appointed PLUTA attorney Mr Steffen Beck as provisional insolvency monitor.
"The concept of this Michelin-starred restaurant has been awarded the Travellers' Choice Award Best of the Best by TripAdvisor for several years," explained Dirk Eichelbaum from dhmp Restrukturierung, who is supporting the ZEDO management as a restructuring consultant. "We see a good chance of restoring the economic viability of this premium restaurant using the instruments of the Insolvency Code."
"For years, '5' and our award-winning head chef Alexander Dinter have been an inspiring address for anyone who appreciates culinary creativity, an urban ambience and first-class service," adds Michael Zeyer, Managing Director of ZEDO GmbH for many years. "Here, enjoyment, joie de vivre and design merge to create an overall experience that is unrivalled. That's why we are focussing on continuing to offer our guests the same high quality."
The first meetings between the management and the provisional administrator on the economic situation have already been scheduled. Subsequently, in the interests of the creditors and a lasting solution, the self-administering management intends to follow up on the talks held to date as quickly as possible. Reservations are still valid and the wages and salaries of the almost 30 employees and trainees are secured up to and including September 2025 via insolvency benefits. For reasons of insolvency law, vouchers cannot be redeemed with immediate effect.
The restaurant in the heart of Stuttgart is housed in a former railway station. On two levels, it combines urban design, cosmopolitan flair and a cuisine that attracts gourmets from all over Germany. Head chef Alexander Dinter, who has been awarded a Michelin star since 2018, presents a creative, seasonally inspired menu ("Radikosmos") that combines international influences, Asian accents and regional products in surprising compositions.
