Restaurant review
Jellyfish, Hamburg
Forum
"The positive development of Jellyfish continues: the menus I have eaten there have always been of a high standard in terms of appearance and flavour. I sometimes missed the flavour of the main product. Even on my previous visit, it was clear that this was getting better and better, and in this menu it was no longer an issue - leaving aside the tuna course. However, the harmony of flavours and impressive appearance are still the outstanding features of the cuisine. However, I was particularly pleased with the dishes that now make the main products the main pillar of the flavour dramaturgy. In this menu, this applies in particular to the two main courses, the paella and the chicken, as well as the snow crab. The Jellyfish's world of flavours is versatile and draws on familiar flavours - but also offers interesting details that stand out from the ordinary.
The atmosphere and service are pleasantly relaxed. Sommelier Linh Nguyen is particularly impressive with the two accompaniments. As a wine drinker, the non-alcoholic drinks are still a little too strong and intense for me and too sweet here and there, but those who come from the world of cocktails or non-alcoholic soft drinks will feel differently and will certainly be very satisfied. The combinations certainly suit the dishes. Sometimes it is an obvious emphasis on individual flavours, sometimes a harmonious addition. I was also impressed by the wine pairing. In terms of flavour and structure, Linh Nguyen selected suitable and interesting wines, which I also enjoyed." (Published in July 2025)
