Düsseldorf is one starred restaurant richer: the passion and creativity of head chef Egor Hopp and his entire team has paid off. Since 17 June, it's official: the Setzkasten is once again a starred restaurant!

The awarding of the MICHELIN stars was eagerly awaited throughout Germany yesterday. Especially the team from the Setzkasten restaurant, who met with Zurheide Feine Kost senior chef Heinz Zurheide and guests to follow the results via live stream. Head chef Egor Hopp had travelled to Frankfurt to experience the MICHELIN Gala in person. Late in the evening, it was clear that Egor Hopp and his team were among the 341 best restaurants in Germany with the Setzkasten concept. A large number of comments such as "You've earned this" and "Finally the reward for your fantastic work" were shared on social media shortly after the announcement.

"Proof that the Düsseldorf community is firmly behind our concept," said a delighted Senior Chef Heinz Zurheide, who celebrated together with the team. The fact that there are now 341 Michelin-starred restaurants confirms that the standard of German gastronomy continues to rise. 12 three-star restaurants (including two new ones), 47 two-star restaurants (including five new ones) and 282 starred restaurants (including 30 new ones) are proof of the remarkable development of German gastronomy. "Their high quality standards are unbroken, as are their inventiveness and passion. Always endeavouring to focus entirely on the guest, young chefs often develop new, unpretentious, accessible and understandable concepts," said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide, praising the outstanding efforts of all restaurants in Germany.
