Three new Bib Gourmand restaurants in Slovenia

Nine Michelin-starred restaurants confirm ratings

Michelin Guide rates 72 restaurants in Slovenia

(15 June 2025) - The Michelin Guide recommends 72 restaurants in Slovenia. Among them are ten new courses. Three restaurants receive a Bib Gourmand for the first time. Plesnik receives the green star for sustainability for the first time. These are the most important results of the Michelin Guide 2025 for Slovenia. The country shows itself to be one with a rapidly developing culinary landscape, demonstrating growing quality, deep respect for tradition and acceptance of modernity. Slovenia continues to establish itself as one of the most exciting gastronomic destinations in Central Europe.

"In 2024 and 2025, our inspectors observed the same passion that the professionals of the Slovenian gastronomic scene have always shown. Driven by restaurant owners who want to showcase their terroir and culinary identity at the highest level, their commitment to excellence continues to stand out. The culinary offering is rooted in local traditions and is enriched by Mediterranean ingredients, Italian seasonings, Austrian-inspired preparations, refined French techniques with butter-based sauces and Nordic influences," explains the international director of the Michelin Guide, Gwendal Poullennec

All stars confirmed

With culinary creations at the forefront of international gastronomy, Hiša Franko has defended its three stars and green star for another year. A true culinary landmark of Slovenia, Hiša Franko takes its guests on a unique journey through the country's local produce and terroirs - masterfully interpreted by the extroverted and imaginative chef Ana Roš.

The two-star restaurant Milka (Kranjska Gora) also maintains its award and impresses with its "excellent cuisine that is worth a detour". Here, chef David Žefran and his team present a refined gastronomic synthesis of the region - skilfully interpreted and prepared, with a special focus on local ingredients.

In the end, seven restaurants across the country once again impressed the inspectors and retained their one star: Grič, Hiša Linhart, Dam, Gostilna Pri Lojzetu, COB, Hiša Denk and Pavus. Slovenia boasts nine starred restaurants in all categories, confirming its status as a remarkable gastronomic destination in Europe.

Green Star

The Green Star recognises the initiatives of innovative restaurants that are fully committed to rethinking their impact and promoting sustainable change in gastronomy. One restaurant was recently awarded the Green Star for its remarkable philosophy and commitment to greener gastronomy.

Plesnik, new to the main selection this year, stands out for its holistic 360° approach committed to respecting nature and the local environment. Located in the heart of the Logar Valley, its cuisine embodies two different but harmonious souls: On the one hand, it honours the historic recipes of Marija Plesnik, who cooked here in the 1940s; on the other, it offers a refined tasting menu inspired by fine dining. Great emphasis is placed on local ingredients, many of which - especially meat and vegetables - come directly from the restaurant's own farm.

With this new award-winning restaurant and the eight restaurants that have retained their award this year, Slovenia now has nine green-starred establishments whose commitment to the reorganisation of gastronomy is a source of inspiration.

Bib Gourmand

Within the Michelin Guide's restaurant selection, the Bib Gourmand award highlights establishments that offer excellent value for money and a complete meal at an affordable price. New to the Bib Gourmand range is the charming Lesnika restaurant in Mozirije, a small town on the Savinja River. It functions as both a bar and a meeting place for the local population and offers generous and well-prepared traditional cuisine.

Two previously recommended restaurants were upgraded to the Bib Gourmand category, reflecting the continuous improvement of their culinary standards while maintaining affordable prices: Gredič (Dobrovo v Brdih), whose cuisine combines Mediterranean and Central European influences, and Etna (Divača), which offers fresh, Mediterranean-inspired dishes. Together with the nine restaurants that have retained their Bib Gourmand award from last year, these three new additions bring the total number of establishments recognised in Slovenia for their outstanding value for money to 12.

In addition to Michelin-starred and Bib Gourmand restaurants, the Michelin Guide inspectors also recommend restaurants that impress with their high-quality cuisine. Nine new restaurants discovered during the inspectors' annual explorations have been added to the main selection - bringing the total number of selected restaurants in Slovenia to 51.

These include Jaz by Ana Roš in the heart of the capital. This inviting, modern bistro offers a lively atmosphere where gourmets can enjoy relaxed and playful cuisine. Salicornia in Koper offers excellent fish dishes inspired by the daily market. Grad Štanjel Restaurant & Lounge Bar is an outstanding gourmet bistro in the historic village of Štanjel.

Other new additions to the main selection are:

  • Old Cellar Bled (Bled)
  • Hiša Raduha (Luče)
  • Dveri Pax (Jarenina)
  • TaBar (Ljubljana)
  • The Restaurant (Ljubljana)
  • Plesnik (Solčava)
