New pricing policy in the 100/200
HAMBURG: The two-star restaurant 100/200 is changing its pricing policy for its carte blanche menu. From 15 May, it will be offered for 175 euros on Mondays and Tuesdays as well as Fridays and Sundays. This makes it the cheapest menu in a two-star restaurant in Germany. The menu includes a bite to eat at the show bar, a flavour introduction, bread & butter, seven courses and macarons to finish. The drinks accompaniment, called "Geleitzug", is offered for 125 euros. It includes an aperitif and eight accompanying drinks with or without alcohol and espresso. On Saturday evening, the menu price of 230 euros will remain the same due to high demand. The "Small Lunch" format will also be continued at the weekend with a 4-course lunch menu for 100 euros. This offer is available with drinks for 200 euros.
The restaurant emphasises that the quality of the products and the creative craftsmanship remain unchanged. Only the complexity on the plate will be reduced in order to emphasise the essentials. This decision is far more than a reaction to economic developments. It expresses the attitude of the 100/200 that quality, craftsmanship and genuine flavour do not have to be equated with the highest prices, according to the press release: "We believe that good food does not have to be elitist. That simplicity can be more than sacrifice. And that our craft is what counts - not the price on the menu," explains owner Thomas Imbusch. For the team, one thing counts above all: satisfied guests and a long-term perspective.
According to calculations by 100/200, the average price for a two-star menu in Germany on weekdays was 257 euros at the end of April. Only six of the 46 two-star restaurants charged less than 210 euros, making the new price of the 100/200 the only menu under 200 euros.
