"Grazie Roma"

Daniel Gottschlich publishes cookery book

Köln, Nordrhein-Westfalen

In search of the answer to the question: Is cooking art?

COLOGNE Two-star chef Daniel Gottschlich has published the cookery book "Grazie Roma". The book is intended to be more than just a collection of special recipes. It is a very personal insight into Daniel's artistic journey to Rome, where in 2023 he became the first chef ever to receive a short-term scholarship at the renowned Villa Massimo of the German Academy in Rome - one of the most important awards for German artists abroad. For seven weeks, he left his Cologne restaurants "Ox & Klee" and "Pvls" to his team and moved into a flat at Villa Massimo. An unforgettable time began for him: days of exchange and inspiration, hours full of creative impressions and artistic and musical experiences. But the wonderful Italian cuisine took centre stage. In Rome, he visited markets and food shops. He talked to chefs, artists and market women. In this book, he shares with us the process of his self-discovery and his reinterpretations of Italian classics: from veal carpaccio with melon, tomato and almonds to oyster tartare with lime, physalis and wild rice to pistachio lasagne and saffron panna cotta. Cucina Italiana at star level. Grazie Roma" also addresses the question: is cookery an art?

The book is published by DuMont-Verlag and costs 32 euros.
