Michelin-starred restaurant Apicius closes

The fine-dining restaurant at Jagdhaus Eiden ceases operations after ten years

BAD ZWISCHENAHN. The Apicius restaurant, which has been awarded one star by the Michelin Guide, will close its doors in April. "After more than ten intensive and fulfilling years at Apicius, the time has now come to close a chapter - and make room for something new," announced head chef Tim Extra in a restaurant newsletter. He took over the management of the restaurant ten years ago and reopened it. It had previously been rated with one star for many years.

The decision was not an easy one, the newsletter continues. "We have been thinking about the future gastronomic direction of Jagdhaus Eiden and Apicius for some time. Even though many considerations have been underway for some time, the final decision to close has now been taken at short notice. For me personally, the end of the Apicius not only means saying goodbye to a place that has accompanied and characterised me for over a decade - but also the beginning of a new chapter. I look back with great gratitude on the last ten years: on many great evenings, intensive creative processes, a great team and, of course, our guests. It has been an honour to make Apicius what it was - a place for culinary precision, inspiration and hospitality," writes Tim Extra.

The restaurant will close on 19 April. The restaurant is already fully booked until then. Guests who have already reserved tables for the time after that will be contacted. Tim Extra announced that the new culinary direction of Jagdhaus Eiden will be more open, more lively and more in keeping with its character. "I am very much looking forward to continuing to help shape this path - with a lot of passion, new ideas and a clear goal: to continue to surprise and inspire you," says Tim Extra.
