On Saturday, 19 April, the ARD Mediathek will release six new episodes of the documentary series "AM PASS - Geschichten aus der Spitzenküche". The production focuses on the people whose creations characterise top cuisine. Six Michelin-starred chefs have been followed on camera over the past few months. They provide very personal insights into their careers, creative processes and their expectations of top-class gastronomy. Users of the ARD Mediathek can experience Germany's top chefs up close.

Christian Bau, head chef at "Victor's Fine Dining by Christian Bau" in Perl, let the camera team into his kitchen and gave an insight into his cooking philosophy. It has made him one of the most highly decorated chefs in Germany. Christian Bau has held three stars in the Michelin Guide without interruption for 20 years. As a result, Schloss Berg in Perl has become one of the best restaurant addresses in the world.

With his unique approach to Japanese cuisine, Christian Bau has not only received numerous awards, but has also inspired an entire generation of chefs. Surprisingly, he was not appointed head chef through a lengthy application process, but rather by chance during a spontaneous visit to the restaurant. Today, after two decades with three Michelin stars, he has not only established himself as a top chef, but also as an ambassador of innovative yet respectful Japanese-inspired cuisine. A highlight of his creative cuisine is his signature dish "Japanese Sea", which centres on yellowtail mackerel - a dish that Bau has turned into a trademark. The dish is characterised above all by the exceptional product quality, which is also outstanding at this level.

In addition to Christian Bau from Perl, the new season of "AM PASS - Geschichten aus der Spitzenküche" also features René Frank from Berlin, Douce Steiner from Sulzburg, Sabrina Fenzl from Markt Innersdorf, Benjamin Peifer from Wachenheim and Tobias Schmitt from Mainz. Viewers experience first-hand how they meet the challenges of gourmet gastronomy at the interface between service and kitchen - in precise manual work, in handling products or in realising creative ideas. Authentic and visually elaborate, "AM PASS" shows what top cuisine is all about and, above all, tells the story of flavour - shaped by childhood, home and the future.

The new season of "AM PASS - Geschichten aus der Spitzenküche" will start in the ARD media library on Saturday, 19 April.
