Matthias, Berlin

Berlin, Matthias, Forum

"The Matthias offers contemporary, flexible enjoyment: whether menu or a la carte, vegetarian or with fish and meat - the guest has the choice."

"The Matthias offers contemporary, flexible enjoyment: whether menu or a la carte, vegetarian or with fish and meat - the guest has the choice. All the dishes I was able to try showed Silvio Pfeufer's signature style. All the dishes are remarkably harmonious in flavour. Nothing is too much, nothing too little - they taste powerful, but without developing too much pressure. I also really like the balance between classic preparations and flavours and modern flavour combinations and the reduction to the essentials. This gives all the dishes a pleasant clarity. The overall atmosphere is very pleasant. The dishes are often served by Silvio Pfeufer or another member of the kitchen team. Michael Stiel presents the wines with a certain nonchalance that gives the enjoyment of wine something casual and effortless. All in all, the Matthias is well suited to everyday enjoyment at a high level, even with the reasonable prices for a la carte dishes. For me, the dishes are at star level, but the format of the restaurant doesn't necessarily mean it needs a star..." (Published in January 2025)
