Gourmet restaurant JUWEL reinvents itself

Sachsen

From April to August 2025, the starred restaurant at the BEI SCHUMANN hotel is taking a creative break for a new world of indulgence

KIRSCHAU. Change is in the air: the one-star restaurant JUWEL in the renowned 5-star superior hotel BEI SCHUMANN is taking a creative break from 2 April to 13 August 2025 - in order to take the next step in star gastronomy with new culinary energy. The team led by head chef Tobias Heldt is using the time to redefine JUWEL.

New concept: Saxony meets Asia

After reopening, JUWEL will not only regain its star status, but will also push the boundaries of flavour. The signature of head chef Tobias Heldt, who is known for his precision and creativity, will remain unmistakable - but with a new twist: a sophisticated combination of regional ingredients with finely tuned Asian influences will characterise the future culinary identity of the gourmet restaurant. "We will continue to develop without losing our roots. Regional products of the highest quality, combined with Asian flavours and sustainable enjoyment - that is our direction," says Tobias Heldt.

JUWEL will also set new standards when it comes to wine. The wine selection will be curated by none other than Jens Pietzonka - Wine Ambassador of the Year 2024 and three-time Sommelier of the Year. He brings a hand-picked essence of European classics, exciting new discoveries and excursions into the world of natural wines into the glass. Another highlight: thanks to the cooperation with the CORAVIN closure system, Grand Crus, Grosse Gewächse and vintage rarities can be served by the glass in future - an exclusive pleasure that will become an integral part of the new concept at JUWEL.

Without a fixed menu

After the creative break, JUWEL is breaking new ground: strict menu sequences are to give way to a relaxed, modern world of indulgence. In future, guests will be able to enjoy even more freedom, choose individually from a creative, seasonal selection and experience fine dining in a more casual and contemporary way. "Our claim to the highest culinary quality remains, but we want to make the dining experience more casual and relaxed. The JUWEL should be a place where our guests can enjoy outstanding Michelin-starred cuisine - but with more individuality, flexibility and spontaneity," explains hotel manager Petra Schumann.

With this further development, the JUWEL is making a statement in German top gastronomy. From mid-August 2025, gourmets and connoisseurs can look forward to a new culinary era full of creativity, elegance and surprises.
