New restaurant management at Johannas
Munich. Graduate sommelier Katharina Greifenstein has travelled the world: she has gained experience and expertise in Austria, France, Vietnam, England, Singapore and on a cruise ship, among other places, which she now uses to run the Johannas restaurant in Munich's Hadern district.
She trained as a young sommelier in a company on the Arlberg. This was followed by various further training courses and after successfully passing the examination to become a qualified sommelier, she took part in the Austrian national championships in Langenlois in 2011. This was a key moment in her professional career, which awakened her "thirst for knowledge that has not yet been quenched." She worked on a cruise ship and, as she says, "went the extra mile for the guest to exceed their expectations." Another exciting station was the London restaurant Story, where Katharina Greifenstein not only perfected her English, but also learnt to appreciate the wines of some of the smaller growing regions, which she had previously only known about in theory.
