The World's 50 Best

North America gets its own '50 Best' list

Canada, USA, The World's 50 Best Restaurants

Ranking for restaurants in Canada, the USA and parts of the Caribbean

LONDON: The World's 50 Best Restaurants is expanding its ranking programme. In addition to the rankings for Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, as well as Latin America, bars and hotels, a restaurant ranking for North America has now been added. This will include establishments in the United States, Canada and parts of the Caribbean. Publication is planned for the course of 2025.

The ranking is the first and only of its kind for North America. William Drew, Director of Content for North America's 50 Best Restaurants, says: "North America has a thriving and diverse restaurant scene. We want to recognise restaurants across the region and encourage foodies to seek out new experiences. We have become the international market leader for expertly curated restaurant, bar and hotel lists: The launch of North America's 50 Best Restaurants is dedicated to the region's restaurants and their teams. The list is a tribute to talent and a credible guide for diners."

The inaugural list will be released in a live countdown culminating in the announcement of "The Best Restaurant in North America 2025." The ranking reflects the best culinary experiences of 300 voting experts, including chefs, restaurateurs, journalists, educators and foodies. Voters remain anonymous and are recruited by the Academy Chairs of the eight sub-regions: Caribbean (excluding Cuba and the Dominican Republic), USA Northeast, USA South, USA Midwest, USA West, Canada East, Canada Middle East and Canada West. Mexico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic continue to be part of "Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants".

Unlike other awards, participation is free and all types of restaurants are eligible. Voters name their top eight restaurant experiences from the past two years. All voters, with the exception of Academy Chairs, are anonymous to prevent lobbying. The Chairs can vote, but their votes have no additional weight and they have no insight into the votes cast in their sub-regions. Voting is confidential and is conducted on a secure website.
