Berlin. The Rutz-Zollhaus on the Landwehrkanal in Berlin's Kreuzberg district has a new restaurant manager in Andreas Butzkamm. The trained restaurant specialist has many years of experience in top gastronomy and a high affinity for wine. Andreas Butzkamm has been the new restaurant manager at the Rutz-Zollhaus in Berlin-Kreuzberg since mid-January, succeeding Steffen Kellner, who is devoting himself to new projects at his own request. In addition to his in-depth service experience, Andreas Butzkamm scores highly with his great wine expertise, making him a perfect fit for the Rutz-Zollhaus concept.

"After a period of gastronomic abstinence, I am delighted to be joining the team at the Rutz-Zollhaus in my new adopted home of Berlin. With my philosophy of heart and craftsmanship, I feel I am in good hands here. Together, we will continue to serve our guests in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere with culinary and vinophile expertise" - says Andreas Butzkamm, motivated for his new tasks.

Family man with experience in top restaurants

Before the 46-year-old took parental leave and then family time to look after his daughter in favour of his wife's career, he worked in many well-known restaurants. After training as a restaurant specialist, he worked as a restaurant manager
in the gourmet restaurant of the hotel-restaurant "Zur Post" in Odenthal. This was followed by positions as maître and sommelier in the Glücksburg restaurant "Meierei Dirk Luther" in the Alter Meierhof Vitalhotel, as restaurant manager in the restaurant "La Terrasse" in the Park Hotel Bremen and as maître in the restaurant "Ophelia" in Constance.

With his own catering company and a position as quality manager at a caterer, he has also learnt about other facets of the hospitality industry in the meantime. He passed the trainer aptitude test early on and sat on the examination board for restaurant specialists at the Flensburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce for several years.

Florian Mennicken, Operations Manager and Head Chef at Rutz-Zollhaus, is delighted with the new team member: "With his expertise, Andreas Butzkamm is an ideal link between the kitchen and guests." The owner couple Anja and Carsten Schmidt add: "We are very happy to have found someone who is passionate about wine. After all, the roots of the Rutz also lie in the former wine bar, which now lives on in a new interpretation in the wonderfully idyllic location on the Landwehr Canal."
