New team of chefs at the Europäischer Hof

Baden-Württemberg

Tim Arnold and Marius Mühlbauer run the kitchen of the Heidelberg hotel together

HEIDELBERG: The privately run 5-star superior Hotel Europäischer Hof Heidelberg has a new team of chefs: Tim Arnold and Marius Mühlbauer took over the management of the traditional hotel's kitchen on 1 February 2025. They succeed Daniel Stelling, who has significantly shaped the culinary standard of the hotel in recent years. The von Kretschmann family and the entire team at the Europäischer Hof would like to thank Daniel Stelling for his great commitment, his outstanding work and his passion for the culinary arts and wish him all the best for the future.

Tim Arnold and Marius Mühlbauer have previously worked as sous chefs at the Europäischer Hof Heidelberg and have already led the kitchen team extremely successfully over the past six months, impressively proving that they are ideally suited for this responsible role. Both have extensive experience in upscale gastronomy and have demonstrated their passion for culinary excellence in numerous positions.

Tim Arnold started out as a young chef in the Michelin-starred restaurant "Fritz's Frau Franzi" under the management of Michelin-starred chef Benjamin Kriegel after completing his cookery training. Within a few years, Tim Arnold became deputy head chef at the age of 23. Also as Deputy Head Chef, he played a key role in the opening of the "Pink Pepper" restaurant in 2022, which was awarded the coveted Michelin star in its very first year. At the beginning of 2024, Tim Arnold moved to the Europäischer Hof Heidelberg as sous chef.

Marius Mühlbauer began his journey through the Michelin-starred kitchens with a classic cookery apprenticeship at the Hotel Traube Tonbach in Baiersbronn. After graduating, he moved to Stuttgart, where he was able to develop his skills as a chef de partie, first at the "Der Zauberlehrling" restaurant and then at the "Wielandshöhe" restaurant under Vincent Klink. He ended his subsequent engagement as sous chef at the Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt in Rottach-Egern in order to continue his education at the Heidelberg Hotel Management School. He took up his new position at the Europäischer Hof in 2024, having passed his exams as a master chef and hotel business administrator.

The signature of Tim Arnold and Marius Mühlbauer can already be felt in the kitchen of the Europäischer Hof: a perfect balance of classic elegance and modern creativity, paired with the highest quality standards. In their new position as head chefs, Tim Arnold and Marius Mühlbauer will be jointly responsible for all of the hotel's gastronomic outlets. These include the fine dining restaurant "Die Kurfürstenstube", the "Sommerrestaurant" and the "Europa Bar". They are also responsible for the entire banqueting area.

"We are very much looking forward to shaping the culinary direction of the Europäischer Hof, preserving the tried and tested while setting new accents," say Tim Arnold and Marius Mühlbauer unanimously. "Our aim is to provide our guests with unforgettable moments of pleasure and to further develop the high quality of our cuisine. All of this in a cooperative management culture that emphasises the strengths of each individual team member."

Dr Caroline von Kretschmann, Managing Partner of the Europäischer Hof and representative of the fourth generation of the family business, emphasises: "With Tim Arnold and Marius Mühlbauer, we know that our kitchen is in the best hands. They have already proven that they will continue our gastronomic philosophy with great skill, creativity and a special team spirit. We look forward to the future with them at the head of our kitchen team."
