12 stars for top Styrian chefs
- 12 stars, 9 Bib Gourmands, 6 Green Stars and 25 Selected Restaurants/Good Cuisine show Styria's potential on the international stage (some several times)
- With the Styrian and ambassador with heart Heinz Reitbauer, Styria even has a 3-star chef, albeit with his restaurant in Vienna (1 star at Pogusch).
- The return of the MICHELIN Guide after 15 years marks a long-awaited highlight for the Austrian culinary industry and represents a major improvement for Styria since the last rating in 2009 and therefore a new opportunity for visibility.
- Followed by a post-tour with over 40 international culinary journalists to the provinces, 15 of them to Styria from AT, DE, BEL.
- 7 arguments in favour of Styria as a unique culinary destination
"With this result, Styria has arrived in culinary star heaven! I would like to congratulate all the award-winning chefs, especially the 12 star chefs, on this confirmation of their work and wish them an equally enthusiastic response from guests at home and abroad," said a delighted Governor Mario Kunasek about these awards.
"What a moving evening! With a total of 52 awards and nominations, Styria as a culinary destination has received a great honour for its achievements. With the tailwind of the Michelin Guide, the bible among culinary guides, the culinary Green Heart is now even more internationally recognised and effective," said a delighted Michael Feiertag, Managing Director of STG/Steirische Tourismus und Standortmarketing GmbH, who spoke on stage alongside State Secretary Susanne Kraus-Winkler and ÖW Managing Director Astrid Steharnig-Staudinger. As spokesperson for the provincial tourism organisations 2024 at the Austrian National Tourist Office, he was heavily involved in the return of the Michelin Guide.
In the 2009 Guide Michelin evaluation, there were four 1-star kitchens, by 2025 there will already be twelve - and with the Styrian Heinz Reitbauer, there is even a 3-star chef in Vienna, in Styria there was a star for his cuisine. "I am convinced that there will be even more in the next Michelin Guide rating in 2026. As things stand at the moment, the ratings are secured for a total of three years and therefore until 2027," Feiertag continues.
