Takeover

Hannappel with new owners

Nordrhein-Westfalen

Tobias Weyers and René Sampaio have taken over the Michelin-starred restaurant in Essen

ESSEN. The Michelin-starred restaurant Hannappel in Essen has new owners. At the turn of the year, chef Tobias Weyers and his business partner René Sampaio took over the business from patron Knut Hannappel.

"We were already able to run the restaurant together and have now taken over the business completely. We are continuing the symbiosis of tradition and modernity, focussing even more on a reduced product cuisine that operates without dogma in the context of sustainability. Tobias focuses on reduction, lightness and acidity," announce the two new operators.

The Hannappel has been awarded one star since 2020. Knut and Ulrike Hannappel have been running the restaurant since 1993.
