Restaurant review

Bonvivant Cocktail Bistro, Berlin

Berlin, Bonvivant, Forum

"The Bonvivant was really convincing: the concept is lived here."

"I have to say: I was sceptical before visiting the restaurant. But the Bonvivant really impressed me: the concept is lived here. I have the impression that all the staff enjoy their work. The bar service is relaxed and very experienced. There is no "culinary superstructure" here, but simply a feeling of enjoyment.
The first two cold courses of the menu and the two desserts are exciting and multi-layered. The flavours are well balanced and interestingly combined - without tasting too bold and powerful. The hot dishes are a step weaker for my taste. They are a little simpler, which is why the complexity and subtlety are not as pronounced, so I give them an average of one star. The combination of food and drinks is a real speciality. The quality and precision of the liquid compositions are convincing - even for me as a non-cocktail drinker. The non-alcoholic creations in particular are not too sweet or sour and have the right density of flavours. I think in the area of non-alcoholic pairing, this is great as far as I can tell. If you want a classic restaurant setting and a quiet evening, Bonvivant is definitely the wrong place for you. But if you're looking for fine dining in a really lively atmosphere, you'll feel right at home here. I am really impressed: many things are done differently at Bonvivant - but not out of principle, to set themselves apart from others, but because the team feels it is right to live gastronomy this way. This gives the Bonvivant Cocktail Bistro authenticity and a special character." (Published in December 2024)
