DÜSSELDORF The new Lido 1960 in the heart of Düsseldorf's harbour has been open for a few days now. The restaurant, designed by Ramona and Benjamin Kriegel, promises an unforgettable experience for anyone who values high-quality, sustainable cuisine.
"You can't discover new oceans without leaving your own harbour." True to this motto, Lido 1960 takes its guests on a culinary journey inspired by regional and seasonal produce. Each dish tells its own story and reflects the restaurant's philosophy: sustainability, quality and a deep respect for the ingredients, their origin and the unique terroir from which they come.

Benjamin Kriege has made a name for himself in the Düsseldorf catering scene. After training at the Hotel Haus Hochstein in Eslohe, his career began in 2007 at the Rheinhotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Meerbusch2. In 2011, he moved to the Restaurant Residence at Berthold Bühler in Essen, where he gained his first experience in Michelin-starred gastronomy. He also worked at Christian Jürgens' gourmet restaurant Überfahrt in Rottach-Egern. In 2014, he moved to Düsseldorf, where he worked as a sous chef at the Victorian restaurant. In April 2016, he took over the management of the restaurant Fritzs Frau Franzi, which was awarded a Michelin star in 2018. In 2022, he opened the fine-dining restaurant Pink Pepper at the Steigenberger Parkhotel Düsseldorf, which was awarded a Michelin star the following year but closed in mid-2024.
